Truly, imagine how hopelessly myopic you have to be to level these charges against scary-sounding Russian entities -- as though you’ve boldly identified uniquely nefarious Russian traits that couldn’t be applied in two seconds to the entire gamut of US corporate media outlets
It’s almost more pathetic when the media credulously hypes and promotes this stuff now because they don’t even have Trump around anymore to justify their abandonment of journalistic standards
The most damning aspect is how media liberals largely cheer these New Cold War escalations with Russia, because they’re still hungover from the Trump-era inebriation that caused them to discard all prior beliefs about the undesirability of inflaming needless geopolitical conflict
It's so great that this melodramatic announcement of new sanctions on allegedly Russian-backed websites -- for promoting "false and misleading information" -- coincided with the confirmation that the "Russian Bounties" tale promoted by the entire US corporate media was total BS
The more you understand the depravity of so much US media, the more you understand why they have to constantly project their shame for their failures onto scary foreign entities:
As explained in the post, “objectivity” was always an unattainable standard. It never made sense as an ideal to aspire to. But the emergent class of journalists have adopted an entire new activism-centered epistemology that is totally antithetical to basic precepts of journalism
Activist-journalists generate power/leverage by posturing as renegades challenging the status quo in the industry. They can't admit that their mentality is now the dominant one. It wasn't 10 years ago, but the post-2016 landscape (and especially post-2020) is radically different
Chatted with @jessesingal about his extremely dangerous new book, which harmfully provides readers with a framework to more critically assess the proliferation of pop psychology fads. After reading, I now understand why Singal must be Held Accountable mtracey.substack.com/p/how-to-spot-…
Make sure to Like, Subscribe, and Comment with your suggestion for how to Hold Singal Accountable
It was truly the honor of a lifetime to introduce the world of Substack to @MarlowNYC’s spellbinding journalistic achievements, which he obviously attained 100% on his own merit. I’ll even forgive him for spilling the beans that the post was in the works 😂
Our friend Marlow must be rattled. He’s doing that thing where he keeps spastically following and then unfollowing me. I feel intimidated and harassed 😭😭😭
This is a real proposal in @PENamerica's new blockbuster Report outlining sweeping recommendations to aid allegedly traumatized journalists
FYI: The reason I keep talking about this "therapeutic trauma jargon" stuff is because it's so rapidly infiltrating every media/activism institution and being confided into policy + mores that affect society writ large
Does anyone in media ever stop to ponder what this says about the state of the industry
One of the main industry-wide campaigns going on in the media right now is providing support to professional adult journalists who say they are "afraid to open Twitter." That's a real thing that's happening, and to be a media member in good standing you're obligated to play long
This post provides ample reason to conclude that contemporary gender identity activists are 100% operating from within an easily-discernible ideology. They're perfectly entitled to that ideology: but denying its existence is a form of what's sometimes called "gaslighting"
This is elaborated on in the post, but as an early proponent of same-sex marriage one thing I've had to grapple with is that social conservatives were correct to foresee that the enactment of same-sex marriage would not placate LGBT activists, but instead further radicalize them
