Acting on specific information about stocking of large quantity (60,000 vials) of Remdesevir, director of a pharmaceutical company was called by Bandra-Kurla complex police station for inquiry yesterday. A team from Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) was also there: Mumbai Police
At about 11.15 pm, Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadanvis, Praveen Darekar, MLA Parag Alavani visited BKC police station. Fadnavis enquired why the director of the pharmaceutical company was called to the police station: Mumbai Police
Fadnavis said permission was taken from Commissioner, FDA to donate the Remdesevir stock to Maharashtra Govt, as Remdesevir stocked for
export cannot be diverted to the domestic market without permission from DGCI or FDA: Mumbai Police
Communication from FDA to the pharma company was not shared with BKC police station, which was acting independently on the information available. Mumbai Police acted in good faith. This inquiry was necessary in light of complaints of rampant hoarding & black marketing: Police
