Challenging the legitimacy of the current Republican-run U.S. government, and the legitimacy of the American nation itself, has been a staple of Democrat rhetoric for generations. They usually end up openly fantasizing about assassinating the Republican in the White House.
Violent street theater has likewise been a staple Democrat tactic for ages. These signals were not only received by their intended recipients on the hard Left. Where did the Jan 6 demonstrators get the idea to challenge the legitimacy of an election? From Democrats, of course.
Democrats are trying to reinforce the notion that only THEY, and their favored constituents, get to question the legitimacy of the government, challenge elections, hold unruly protests, refuse to recognize legal authority, etc. They're not against any of that ON PRINCIPLE.
We're getting another demonstration of it right now, as Maxine Waters cruises unscathed through a media nontroversy that would be the top story nationwide if a Republican did what she did. Every single GOP politician would be hounded to denounce her 24 hours a day by reporters.
This is a standard feature of totalitarian regimes, by the way. The ruling Party always has street auxiliaries that terrorize the public with impunity. Sometimes they're paramilitary militia forces with some degree of official sanction and assistance, as in Iran.
Every left-wing totalitarian state tries to keep a permanent "revolution" brewing on the streets, even after the "revolutionaries" have been in total control of the State for years. They always posture as righteous underdogs fighting against oppressive powers.
In the United States, the Democrat Party has been in control of most institutions and most of the government for generations, but it still asserts that only Democrats can question the legitimacy of the government, refuse to recognize elections, or break the law with impunity.
The Dems control nearly everything of value and influence in America, and they have absolute multi-generational political control of the cities where riots keep happening - but they're still the plucky "revolutionaries" speaking Truth to Power and Fighting For Justice.
And yes, the Democrats reserve the right to call for political violence, and also demand absolute impunity when violence results, even massive property destruction and murder - because they're still the freedom-fighting revolutionaries, and they always will be. /end
