Minister Elliot blatantly lied earlier this week when she said there is no final draft of the Critical Care Triage protocol. Media personnel have seen it. Doctors have already received iterations of it & have been forced to use it (THREAD) 1/7 #onpoli #triageprotocol @fordnation
The provincial government has had over a year to implement solutions that would prevent the need or use of the protocol. Instead of increasing social assistance rates or instituting a moratorium on eviction, Ford made it impossible for disabled people to stay safe at home 2/7
Disabled people have filled ICU units across the GTA and that a majority of them are racialized and disabled, folks who were essential workers. Disabled people in critical care are being put in helicopters and sent to other cities without consent of their friends and family. 3/7
In an egregious display of partisanship, this government provided few pandemic resources to #HamOnt, a city which according to census data has the largest density of disabled people in Ontario. There are military tents being set up here set up beside hospitals, and our jail. 4/7
To illustrate care for people with disabilities, the government needs to acknowledge that their policy decisions are based in eugenics based ideology, the idea that disabled people inherently have less value and worth, and deserve less support and care. 5/7 #onpoli
Their decisions show that Black, Racialized & Disabled people, essential workers, etc. will die from exposure to #COVID19 or if they survive #COVID19... be denied critical care on the basis of disability.

The triage protocol protects the white, healthy, & the wealthy. 6/7
Premier Ford is currently recovering from #COVID19, probably receiving paid sick leave. He would not be a victim of the triage protocol, because of power/ class. While recovering, we hope he reflects on what the potential disabling impacts could have on his perceived worth. 7/7
