LeBron is the most irresponsible and hypocritical athlete to regularly discuss news topics. The guy insisted Daryl Morey must be poorly informed to express support for Hong Kong activists, but actively encourages harassment of a police officer that saved a young girl’s life.
That cop did nothing wrong by any reasonable standard, and now someone with 50 million followers is encouraging attacks against him. That’s on top countless news organizations lying about his actions. Decent people need to speak out. Real people will get hurt by this stuff.
And I’m not just talking about the cop here. I’m also talking about the next young girl/boy being attacked by someone when a cop shows up that is killed because the cop hesitated to protect them.

That’s what these irresponsible idiots are encouraging.
If you want accountability, try starting with yourself. You were ignorant of what happened and tried to make it into a racial thing while directing an angry mob at a police officer that did their job and helped save an innocent young black girl.

A lot of people never read beyond headlines and rely on the press to serve as gatekeepers, but the number keeps decreasing as press credibility continues to diminish. That's why journalists are so upset at competition (ex substack) now bc they want the audience w/o accountability
Ton of Americans have been actively misinformed by press outlets on many issues (Covid-19 risk, FL-NY response, Covington Catholic, Kavanaugh allegations, GA law, police shootings etc.)

On all those issues, those that rely on national news are convinced of things that are false.
You want people to stop tuning you out or view you as less trustworthy than a used car salesman? Focus a little less on trying to censor competition and a little more on holding your colleagues and industry accountable for their consistent failings.

I saw a lot of these tweets earlier today. I followed my usual rule of not commenting until I saw the video or got more details.

Now bodycam footage has been released and you can literally see the girl trying to stab someone forcing the officers to fire.
Did a quick search and all the usual suspects jumped on this. Spread it to tens of thousands of people as an unjustified shooting. That's also how the Daily Beast article framed it. We have a serious problem when the outrage mobs can't wait a few hours for the truth.
And I'm sorry, but if you can watch that video and see this shot of her about to stab someone right before the officer fired and think it's an improper use of force, there really isn't much to discuss. Image

Not big on interview videos with just a few people, but I would be interested in a poll asking people how many unarmed individuals are killed by police each year (broken down by race).

I'm willing to bet a significant amount that perception is nowhere near reality.
Mostly because media coverage and political discussions of those events are so bad that they actively misinform people, which makes it difficult to have a worthwhile discussion.
I guess someone did this poll for how many unarmed black men were killed by police in 2019 & what percent of those killed were black.

The actual number in 2019 (according to WaPo's database) was 13. The actual percentage of black people killed by police in 2019 was ~24%. ImageImage

Flashback to total media meltdown over DeSantis keeping the beaches open last April and May....
Good times.
People dismiss the job DeSantis did, but there were at least 4 major decisions he took the lead on and was 100% right despite attacks:

1) Keep beaches open
2) Focus on nursing homes/refuse to send Covid+ back to them
3) Force schools open
4) Prioritize seniors for vaccinations.

Again, Berenson is either one of the dumbest people on the planet when it comes to interpreting data or assumes everyone in his audience is an idiot. That’s very chart shows the deviations as vaccines ramped up, but eventually all age groups benefit from reduced transmission.
Also, almost 60% of Israel’s population has been vaccinated. That’s a lot more people than those in nursing homes. If almost 3/5 people can’t get or spread the virus, it’s going to make it hard for it to spread to too many people in any age group.
Btw what’s Alex’s explanation for how a country went from a massive Covid-19 outbreak to 95% reduction in cases over a few months just as they gave most people a vaccine if the vaccines aren’t effectice? Pure luck? Covid-19 just decided to give up on Israel?

At some point a lot of people are going to have to decide whether they want to focus on loyalty to one politician and soothing his ego or the future of the country.

He will hand Democrats control of everything just so he can keep playing victim.
You can either get stuck in the past with him or move on to the future and try to stop the radicals on the left looking to make permanent changes. This isn't about policy. You can back every policy you supported with Trump, but there can be no political success backing him.
and a lot more people are going to realize that when Trump will inevitably turn on pols like DeSantis once he feels they are overshadowing him and are insufficiently loyal to him. Because all he cares about is himself.
