So it took me a while but I found the video that convinced Libertarian Conor Friedersdorf whose obsession is liberals caring too much about racism to recognize police impunity is bad. Of course, the man killed is white. Still, this is undeniably except

the jury acquitted the officer. Basically he toyed with Shaver and then shot him when Shaver tried to pull up his pants. He knew he was unarmed.

Interestingly, the Shaver shooting led into this killing that is in some ways similar to George Floyd and Elijah McClain's deaths. Again, no consequences for the officers and the judge threw out the civil suit citing qualified immunity.

I suppose Friedersdorf might use that death to argue that it isn't racism behind cop killings but why can cops kill with impunity?

It's racism that gives them qualified immunity & racism that gives them public support. Cops are the enforcers for white supremacy.

So yes, cops kill white people. In absolute numbers, they kill more white people than Black people. In relative numbers, Black people are killed three times more likely to be killed. But this is not the only time whites accept death if it hurts Black people more.

Look at COVID and those who said that they felt okay with being open and risking COVID because look at the demographics and the populations it affects.

People deny themselves universal healthcare for fear Black people will get an aspirin. Look at that guy who was interviewed about his opposition to the ACA even though he was uninsured with cancer. He said flat out he didn't want any policy helping Black people get health care.

Look at America ranking 56th in maternal mortality in the world. That's fine so long as Black maternal mortality is 3 times greater for Black women.

So yeah, Americans are fine with policing killing white people, so long as they kill Black people disparately. The numbers don't matter, the ratio is the only thing that counts. If it harms Black people more, white people want it even if it harms them.
Racism is killing us all

Being anti-racist is not selfless, sacrificing, or any other saintly thing. Being anti-racist is in my self-interest. It is in the self-interest of white people to stop racism because it is killing us, too.
