I walked a no-coiner friend into #xmr on @cakewallet yesterday. It was great. Give this a try on a no-coiner in your life!

In fairness, he wasn’t a complete no-coiner, he bought and sold #DOGE back during the $GME extravaganza. I’ve been telling him he should take a look at #Bitcoin and #Monero. (I always say both, knowing they’ll end up at Monero)
Apparently he bought some BTC this week. 😏
He messaged me saying how slow it was to move his #BTC, so I sent him a screen grab of @txstreetCom and told him he was one of the people waiting in line to get on the bus. Giving him this visual was my precursor to introducing a block explorer. txstreet.com/v/btc
He also complained about super high fees he was having to pay to move his #BTC off an exchange. I told him to download @cakewalletcakewallet.com so I could “show him something”.
He had NEVER heard of a block explorer before. He was shocked to learn that all of that transaction data was viewable publicly!
I then sent him to a #Monero block explorer to show him how all data including sender, receiver, and amount is confidential localmonero.co/blocks
At this point, he was ready for me to “show him something”. I had him pull up his @cakewallet app and the #XMR screen on @txstreetCom. I sent him 0.01XMR and told him it was on the way.
His first response was: “I see it already!” He was amazed at how fast the transaction was.
I told him it cost less than 1¢ for me to send it, and it would have cost the same amount if I was sending 100XMR. To which he said, “That’s so tight!”
There is an increasingly obvious disconnect between cypherpunks/freedom lovers and the government/corporate sector. Let’s take a closer look at that and explore how to narrow the gap.

2/ Companies like @chainalysis and @ciphertrace have recently secured millions in contracts with US government agencies, despite huge doubts they can trace the Monero network.
3/ The same companies, particularly @chainalysis, have been actively smearing Monero in the media. Appealing to the gov narrative by calling it a tool for criminals and neglecting to talk about the primary reason for a private blockchain: fungibility.
