How our Ancient Indians use to calculate space & geography according to Srimad Bhagawatham. Will go with a Thread -
Lets start from India: India is a part of South Asia; Asia is one of the continent in the world;
This world is nothing but Earth. The whole Earth is known as Bhooh.
In Bhooh we have seven Dweepams known as Jambu, Plaksha, Shalmali, Kusha, Kraunca, Shaka, Pushkara Dweepams respectively. India is in Jambudweepam.
Above Bhooh there are seven layers/lokas named as Bhuvah, Suvah, Mahah, Janah, Tapah, Satyam
Similarly, Below Earth there are
another seven layers/Lokas called as Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Rasathala, ThalaaThala, Mahathala, Pathala.
seven lokas above & seven Lokas below Earth respectively. So we call (Eer Yezhu 14 Lokam in Tamil) means 7X2=14 Lokas
All these 14 lokas including Earth looks like an egg.
In Sanskrit its called Anda. The creator of this Anda is Brahma. so we call it as Brahmaandam.
There is a shell to protect this anda, same like shell covering an egg. This shell is known as Aavaranam in Sanskrit
In between the Anda & Aavaranam there is a fluid called as
Aavarana Jal in Sanskrit. Its like how a mother protects her baby in her womb with Amnionic fluid, similarly this Avarana Jal/fluid protects all the 14 lokas.
Now this egg, has to be place somewhere in the universe. Above this place we have Vayu Lok, Agni Lok, Surya Lok,
Chandra Lok, Nakshatra Lok, Saptarishi Mandal are placed.
All the above said set is placed inside a Dolphins eye.
Now Just imagine the position of dolphin while it swims back to water upside down, that position is known as Simshumaram in Sanskrit.
The Whole Brahmaandam, and
other Lokas are placed inside that eye,
beside to that there is another Mandal called Dhruv Mandal.
Sri Maha Vishnu placed both Simshumaram and Dhruv Mandal as a small particle of dust on his belly.

Experiences with Sri Maha Periva - The Sound of Aum
Author: Radha Ramamoorthy, Pudukottai (in Tamil)
Compiler: Sri Kothandarama Sarma
Source: MahA PeriyavAL - Darisana AnubhavangaL vol. 2,
I used to write poems & songs on PeriyavAL & submit to him.
I would write on an ImageImageImageImage
ordinary paper & keep it in PeriyavA's sannidhi. He would take & read it himself or would ask Sri Balu who would be on his side to read it. Sometimes he would ask me to read it & listen.
On one occasion, I wrote a song as a Raaga Maalika on the daily puja that PeriyavA does.
I kept it near Sri PeriyavA. He said to Sri Vedapuri SastrigaL who was beside him, "Take it and read." The SastrigaL took & read from the paper. When he was half way through, PeriyavA asked him to stop. Exactly at that time the MaTham's bell rang & PeriyavA said "Aum! Aum!"
