The tanker, when it arrived, delivered enough for 1.5hr supply for 140 critically ill patients. The hospital hoped that would be suffice to until a tanker with a full load arrived.
The staff must be desperate constantly going to the wire fir basic supplies.
A Gov failure.
The National Centre for Disease Control said the Delhi surge was directly correlated to the UK variant. “We have seen a rise in the proportion of the UK variant from 28% of Delhi’s genome sequenced samples in the second week of March to 50% in the last week of March.
The surge in Delhi directly correlates with the UK variant. Nationally, we have sequenced 15,135 samples and found 1,735 (11%) variants of concern,”
I’m curious about that as it did not show up on the variant graph for West Bengal last week unless they label it differently.

“Further down the quay, Brackan Pearce, 28, is restocking his trawler. He travelled up the Thames as part of a flotilla of fishing boats demanding control of British waters during the referendum campaign in 2016.”

At Beaumont Hospital in one of America’s worst coronavirus hot spots, entire units are still filled with Covid patients. People weak with the virus still struggle to sit up in bed
The phone still rings with pleas to transfer patients on the verge of death to higher-tech units
But unlike previous surges, it now is younger & middle-aged adults — not their parents & grandparents — who are taking up many of Michigan’s hospital beds. A 37-yr-old woman on a ventilator after giving birth. A 41-yr-old father. A 55-yr-old autoworker who has been sick for weeks
It would be useful to understand the context of the breakthrough events (so we’re they at a time of high or low prevalence in their locality)
In India right now prevalence is SO high and vaccine roll out so slow that it would not be surprising if breakthrough events were higher
Given the paucity of access to good hospital care (huge demand from numbers, serious shortage of oxygen and drugs) it also would not be surprising if the breakthrough death rate is markedly higher too.
Remember my thread on the holes in our border controls?
THIS is one of them. Gov business

One would have thought they would be subject to the most rigorous testing on return

“ I don’t understand pharma’s stance on this. Everyone needs to make money, sure. But this is a very serious situation and there’s no reason to be this harsh,” he added.
