Reposting @BharadwajSpeaks ji's thread on the Hindu heritage of Gosthana, the region more commonly known now by its Uighur name, Aksai Chin
(/1)
Aksai Chin is a relatively recent Chinese sponsored Uighur name. Ladakhis & Tibetans called it by the Sanskrit name "Gosthana"(=place of the cows). Han Chinese have no history or presence in the region. They are just recent occupiers Use original name & show them their place
(/2)
Aksai Chin is a part of Hotan County. The name Hotan actually comes from Sanskrit Godana as mentioned in ancient Indian texts. Chinese also used same name in the past Tibetans called it by the name Gosthana & entire region had related names Use #Gosthana not Aksai Chin
(/3)
Those asking me how it got its name in a barren region. Please do not forget that in Indian literature "Govansh" includes not just the cows but the entire family. In this case, it includes the Yaks which are found in plenty in this region.
(/4)
RT @onlinecolloquy: This is our sacred land. Does not matter if a blade of grass grows here or not! Call this punya bhoomi by her real name #GoSthana #गोस्थान and not #AksaiChin. Read, remember, share and raise awareness...
(/5)
RT @_WastingAway_: Precisely why renaming of places is so important... lesson for those who scoff at places being renamed..... these things are not merely symbolic but have geo-politicial-cultural implications....

RT @GampaSD:
Gosthana✔️ Aksai Chin✖️
Thank you @TIinExile!

A thread on the History of Vanniyars: The Agni Kula Kshatriyas of Tamizh Nadu.
Full credits and my Pranaams to @ArmchairPseph ji for all the information in this thread.🙏
(/1)
For Vaidika upanayana, many jatis are attempting to find their roots & reclaim their heritage:
A traditional Tamizh, yellow-page invitation to Vanniyars to receive the upanayana with a priest of the temple of Tillai as guru & become kshatriyas proper.
(/2)
Edgar Thurston writes,
"A manuscript, abstracted at page 90 of the Catalogue raisonné (Mackenzie Manuscripts), states that the Vanniyans belong to the Agnikula, and are descended from the Muni Sambhu; & that they gained victories by means of their skill in archery."

Latest fad of Dravidianist gang is to claim Jain heritage. Not that they love it, they hate all Dharmic religions & complain of "veg imposition".But anything to distance themselves from Hindu past works.Ilango Adigal was NOT Jain!
(1)
In his latest book, Indologist Herman Tieken rubbishes the baseless claims that Ilango Adigal was a Jain.
In Silappadikaram, Ilango Adigal calls himself a follower of Vedic religion.
There is not a single mention of Mahavira or any Tirthankara in the whole book!
(/2)
Silappadikaram begins with prayers to Vedic Gods Surya, Chandra, Indra & Varuna. There is no Jain Prayer anywhere in the book. Ilango Adigal participates in Vedic Yajnas. The book is centered on worship of Goddess Pattini including sacrifices considered a taboo in Jainism.

Hinduphobia, Colonial tropes & Anti-Brahmanism in the Asterix comics, published 1987. Hindu Gurus are portrayed as εvil "Hoodunnits" who advocate hυmαη sαςπificε.

Hoodunnit or Who-done-it is a term used for a mμrdeπ story,in which you don't know who did the mμrdeπ until the end.
Hindu Gurus shown plotting & Scheming to overthrow the king.

"Indra will call for more royal βIooδ... and it will be off with the Rajah's hεαδ!"

Bathing in the Ganga is shown as backward & mocked, Obelix upon seeing the ritual comments:

*The tale of Tiruchendur Murugan*
Tirumalai (1623-1659 A.D.) of Madura Nayak dynasty, eager to have foreign trade relations, concluded a treaty with the Portuguese for pearls in 1639 A.D. The pearl fishery which employed the Paravas of the coast, brought them enormous wealth.

A treaty with the Dutch was concluded in 1646 by terms of which they were allowed to build a fort at Kayalpattanam. This brought them into conflict with the Portuguese. They seized a Dutch boat laden with goods & drove the Dutch out of their fort & destroyed it.
(/2) Image
The Dutch Governor came to the mainland in 10 boats, landed at Manappar, seized the Portuguese Church at Virarampattanam, occupied the Temple at Tiruchendur, & fortified the latter with guns & seized the gold. The locals made several futile attempts to regain the temple.

1) E.V.R wasn't Velalar.
2) There's a fundamental problem with generalizing & pinning the blame on 1 cαstε for the actions of converts to a different ideology. I DO NOT support this notion. If this were a notion to be supported, as the person below is doing,
(/1)
People would have to start holding
1) JΔts accountable for KhΔlistΑnism,
2) V1's for actions of Nehπu & EMS. Namboodiπipad
3) Cαstεs with converts to Xtiαηity or 'zlΔm(All castes?)

& so on, which is obv a stμpid notion! We shouldn't be blamed for actions of coηvεrts!
(/2)
Respecting the differences b/w the Jαatis, & still bonding together against the common eηεmy,i.e the different ideologies: C0mmiε, 'xtianity, 'zlam, Dπaνidiαηism, should be the goal. Not furthering differences! There are numerous people from all cαstεs who have fought FOR Dharmα,

RT @TIinExile ji:
It is often claimed that Pre Modern Hindu India was a misogynist world where women were not allowed to own property. A glance at contemporary inscriptions proves otherwise. From the property transactions, 48% of land owners & sellers were women in Kumbhakonam,TN
In the above table Chola Period 1 belongs to the period of Vijayalaya & early cholas (A.D 850-985)
Period 2 marks the height of Chola ascendancy under Rajaraja & Rajendra Chola (A.D 985-1070)
Thanjavur was the core area of Cholas.
Clearly, the % was highest during their peak
(/2)
Well, This period was Peak Brahmanism under Cholas. The beautiful religion of Brahmanism held sway all over Tamilakam!
