Words are insufficient to describe our gratitude that this flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of Molly. @DrewNirenberg, the Nirenberg family and @SpeakerPelosi, we are humbled. As Justice Sotomayor said, Molly had the heart of a public servant. Thank you. #TEAMMOLLY
It’s been an emotional day. When this flag arrived, I broke down sobbing. @DrewNirenberg is the nephew of my friend who is actually family, @LeslieHelmer. @DrewNirenberg was invested in Molly’s story before he realized that his aunt is like a sister to me.
When Drew and his family learned of our connection, they wanted to do something special to honor Molly. Drew works on Capitol Hill. He contacted Speaker Pelosi’s office and explained what happened to Molly, arranging for this flag to be flown in her honor.
Drew, we will never forget your kindness. Our boys are already fighting over where the flag will reside (silly, since they both sleep in Molly’s room). Our family, like yours, is politically active. Our ten-year-old, Nate, who desperately misses Molly, is in awe of your gift.

Eli’s birthday party was wonderful. He enjoyed every minute! It was a nice day for all. It wouldn’t have been possible without family and friends, including #TEAMMOLLY. My sister and sister-in-law did many things they knew I could not.
Since we built our house over a ago, it was the first time we’ve had a gathering, besides Molly’s shiva. I invited Eli’s small preschool class as the kids are together anyway. The adults have all been vaccinated. A glimpse of post-Covid normalcy!
Molly was with us. I’m learning that our loved ones on the other side use people on Earth, sometimes unknowingly, to deliver messages of their love. Through @MindsEye55 and @yenyen419, Molly sent a garbage truck for a surprise visit, balloons and sweets for the birthday boy.
Molly innately respected all forms of life. We didn’t teach this to her; she taught us.
I love this story from one of her theatre friends about how they found a dead 🐝 and Molly insisted on a funeral. And this chart she sent to Eme about eating animas, remarking, “How sad!”
From the youngest age, Molly would gaze out to the ocean, sitting still for a long time.
Molly was scared about climate change. She worried about the future of our planet.
Fifth graders at our school, @MarquezCharter, are fortunate to learn history by performing in a series of plays written by the incomparable @jefftoes. Molly was THRILLED to star in the lead roll of narrator, Katie, in “Miracle at Philadelphia.” TEAMMOLLY 🌟
Grief isn’t linear. Disbelief, anger, sorrow, acceptance - they cycle through us all the time. How is it possible that I will never look into these eyes again?
I often feel like my child has let go of my hand and gotten out of my sight. The panic of not knowing where she is.
I ultimately return to knowing that Molly is right here. Yes, her physical form slipped away from me (and there are no words to describe how painful it is). But she is with me. I try to raise my energetic frequency because staying in acute pain makes it harder to feel her.
Grief is intensely physical, too. Jon and I are both suffering physically. I live with chronic pain from cancer treatment, so it’s not unfamiliar. Grief has brought its own physical challenges that I’m trying to work through.
I hope you all enjoy Aunt Polly’s beautiful post about Molly on her blog. Molly loved to bake with Polly, and her other aunts, and learned a lot from them. Enjoy her recipes! pollyruth.co. #TEAMMOLLY#TheMollyWay#MollyMemories
Molly was a connector (I am, too). When Jon was growing up, he didn’t know his four sisters from his dad’s first marriage well. Molly came along and wanted to know her entire family. She spent time with her aunts and their families and they quickly fell in love with her.
The adults followed suit and developed their own close bonds. Jon’s sisters have been such a comfort, and he has them in his life because of Molly. She truly was a miracle.
They usually fit a certain profile, don’t they? Deranged, hateful white men. Let’s call them what they are, #DomesticTerrorists, and prosecute them accordingly. Call your senator today and everyday until they do something about it! #GunReform#BackgroundChecks#MomsDemandAction
Here’s an interesting article on race and mass shootings. The majority of such incidents ARE committed by white men. But the issue is more complex that I had given serious thought to. I think this article is worth a read. google.com/amp/s/www.wash…
I always find @DaveChappelle insightful and wise, especially when it comes to race. I recommend listening to his comments on mass shootings.
