200 million Covid-19 shots have been administered since President Biden took office. But last week, daily vaccinations declined across the U.S. for the first time since February, reflecting that demand is softening.
In Louisiana, for example, one million doses distributed by the federal government are sitting unused on shelves. State officials are warning that dropping demand signals the importance of outreach to communities that are wary of the vaccine or lack easy access to vaccination.
Although only 23 percent of people in Texas have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, vaccinations decreased sharply last week. Black and Hispanic individuals continue to be vaccinated at lower rates than white residents of Texas.

In data recently collected by the Kaiser Family Foundation, 20 percent of Americans said they will definitely not get the vaccine or will only if it’s required. More than 40 percent of Republicans remain opposed to getting their shot.

Federal investigators searched Rudy Giuliani’s apartment this morning as part of an investigation into his possible violation of federal lobbying laws — so let’s do a quick review of what we’ve learned about Giuliani’s role in the Ukraine scandal.
nytimes.com/2021/04/28/nyr…
Giuliani’s dealings in Ukraine were at the center of the 2019 impeachment investigation, including the campaign to pressure former President Trump to fire the US Ambassador to Ukraine, Marine Yovanovitch.
Our FOIAs and litigation uncovered records showing Giuliani was in contact with then Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in March 2019, in the midst of the effort to dig up dirt on Yovanovitch.

The Arizona Senate is conducting a partisan audit of the 2020 election results in Maricopa County and it hired the firm Cyber Ninjas to conduct the audit. Our concerns about the transparency of the audit keep growing. #azleg
The Cyber Ninjas firm has refused to provide details about who is involved in the audit and who is paying for it beyond Arizona taxpayers. @JenAFifield from @azcentral reported that many audit procedures were seemingly finalized on the fly last Friday.

This audit has lacked transparency from the very beginning. Arizona Senate President Karen Fann announced last month that the audit would be led by Cyber Ninjas with no oversight by members of the Senate.

NEW: Through #FOIA requests, we obtained more evidence of taxpayer spending at Trump properties. Secret Service records show over $20,000 in expenses incurred during Eric Trump’s trips to Trump properties in Scotland, reports the @TheScotsman's @MartynMcL.
scotsman.com/news/politics/…
No one objects to the Trump family receiving Secret Service protection, but every time they charge their security detail to stay at a Trump property, thousands of taxpayer dollars line their pockets.
This is part of a long trend of Trump family members and government officials spending taxpayer money at properties the former president owns.

A new Florida law increases penalties for crimes committed during protests, creates new felony offenses, and denies defendants bail until they’ve appeared in court. Florida isn’t alone.

On Wednesday, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a law that increases penalties for protesters who block roadways, while providing immunity to drivers who unintentionally kill or injure protesters while attempting to flee.

Earlier this week, the New York Times reported on the wave of similar legislation cropping up in multiple states; according to @ICNLAlliance, Republican legislators in 34 states have introduced 81 anti-protest bills this legislative session.

This #FOIAFriday, we’re talking about taxpayer spending at properties owned by former president Donald Trump. Here’s what we’ve uncovered so far.
americanoversight.org/tracking-taxpa…
In December, @MartynMcL of the @TheScotsman reported on records we obtained regarding 4 trips made by Eric Trump. Turnberry — a Trump resort in Scotland — charged U.S. taxpayers $32,742 for the accompanying Secret Service members’ hotel costs.
We uncovered that billionaire and former U.S. Ambassador to the U.K. Woody Johnson paid £1,143 (about $1,500) for a single day of activities at Trump’s golf course in Scotland in July 2018.

Last fall, the Trump administration came under fire for requiring that letters signed by the president be included in food boxes distributed through a federal aid program. Records provide new information about Ivanka Trump's involvement in the letter.
americanoversight.org/the-politicize…
The USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program began distribution in May 2020. But the program encountered numerous problems related to distribution and cost — in addition to concerns that it was being improperly politicized by the Trump administration during an election year.
In July 2020, Fox News first reported that the boxes would come with a letter, signed by the president, that included basic Covid-19 guidelines alongside ample self-praise from then-President Trump.
