@Hadithoftheday Odd number of dates.
It is Mustahab to break the fast with odd number of dates.
It is not obligatory and in fact it is not Sunnah to break the fast with an odd number, three or five or seven or nine, except on the Day of Eid al-Fitr.
@Hadithoftheday Narrated Anas bin Malik R.A : Allah's Messenger ﷺ never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of Eid-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Anas R.A also narrated: The Prophet ﷺ used to eat odd number of dates - (Sahih Bukhari)
@Hadithoftheday Some scholars have regarded it as mustahabb to make everything odd-numbered.
All words and deeds should be made odd-numbered. This is the Sunnah. (Shaykh Saalih-al-fawzan)
@Hadithoftheday One will be rewarded for making things odd numbered as an act of devotion. So if a person eats dates, he should eat one, or three or seven, an odd number, because Allah loves that which is odd-numbered. (Shaykh ‘Abd al-Kareem al-Khudayr)
@Hadithoftheday The Prophet ﷺ said: “Verily Allah is One and loves that which is odd-numbered"

@Hadithoftheday The beginning time for the Fajr prayer. (When there is white thread of daylight)
Allah says in Qur'an:
“And eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night), then complete your fast till the nightfall.” (2:187)
@Hadithoftheday The Prophet ﷺ instructed the Companions ,
The athān of Bilāl should not prevent you from eating Sahūr because he gives athān at night, therefore keep eating and drinking until you hear the athān of ʿAbdullāh b. Umm Makktum. He gives athān when the fajr comes out.” (Bukhari)
@Hadithoftheday Allah has permitted the fasting person to eat and drink until dawn comes. He, Most High, says: {… and eat and drink until the white thread becometh distinct to you from the black thread of the dawn …} (Al-Baqarah 2:187)

@Hadithoftheday Surah Baqarah (Chapter 2 of Qur'an).

Allah says in Qur'an:
"O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous" - (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183)
@Hadithoftheday Allah in Surah Baqarah of Glorious Qur'an makes it clear that fasting was ordained compulsory on all Muslims and that Muslims have to fast if they are to stay righteous.

Allah says in Qur'an:
"Allah is with those who restrain themselves." -(Quran 16:128)
@Hadithoftheday Fasting was prescribed to previous nations too (before nation of Prophet ﷺ) as Allah says in Surah Baqarah:
"O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous "
(Qur'an. Al-Baqara 2: Verse 183)

@Hadithoftheday Taqwa (Piety).
Allah says in Qur'an:
“O You who believe! Fasting is prescribed upon you as it was prescribed on those before you so that you may attain Taqwa”  Qur'an – [2:183]
@Hadithoftheday Taqwa is consciousness of Allah.
Fasting is one of the best ways to attain Taqwa.
Taqwa, is a means of getting closer to Allah spiritually.
It strengthens a Muslim’s belief and enables him to become a better human being
@Hadithoftheday The purpose of fasting is not to make us hungry and thirsty, or to deprive us some of our comfort and conveniences. The real purpose of fasting is that we learn taqwa.
Taqwa is highly emphasized in the Qur’an and Sunnah. There are numerous verses in the Qur’an on taqwa

@Hadithoftheday Before Eid Salah.
Zakat Al-Fitr is due before Eid prayer.
Ibn Umar reported: The Prophet ﷺ ordered it (Zakat-Al-Fitr) to be given before people go out for the Eid prayer. ( Bukhari 1503, Muslim 986)
@Hadithoftheday Zakat ul-Fitr, is an obligatory charitable donation all Muslims are required to make during Ramadan.
Zakat ul-Fitr is also called as Fitrana.

The Zakat ul-Fitr amount is calculated on the basis of the current price of a staple food, equivalent to a specific weight.
@Hadithoftheday Zakat al-fitr must be given on behalf of all Muslims, young and old, male and female, free and slave.
With regard to a foetus, it is not obligatory to give it on his behalf according to scholarly consensus, but it is mustahabb, because Uthman R.A did that.
