Some news: @FirstbaseHQ has raised a $13m Series A led by @a16z

In the last year, 11,000+ companies with 20m+ employees signed up to learn how we can help them set up, support, and scale their remote team globally

A few reasons why this is so important

[ a thread ] 💻🏠🌍
❤️Why Remote: I missed my daughter walking, laughing & talking for the first time. Almost everyone who's worked in an office has a similar story

Remote meant a higher quality of life. More time to do the things that make me happiest

While continuing to do meaningful work
🌱Founding Story: Me and @TreyBastian, founded a FinTech startup initially. It had to be remote because of the above and also it was the only way we knew we could find, attract and retain great talent

As we built a remote team we immediately began encountering challenges
😩Remote Struggles: Setting people up with the right equipment to work remotely is time-consuming & expensive

Things don't turn up, they break, & it's hard to get things back if people left. We built Firstbase internally to make it easy

We pivoted to it full-time in Sept 2019
🦸‍♂️What is Firstbase: We help companies set up, manage, maintain & retrieve all the equipment remote workers need at the touch of a button

Deployment, IT setup, maintenance, repairs, perks, collections when workers leave + upgrades all handled

Learn more: FirstbaseHQ.com
🚀Market Size: There are 255m desk jobs globally and 90%+ of people never want to work in an office again full-time

By 2030, 128m workers will be remote at least part-time. Enabling companies to setup, support, and scale a remote workforce globally is a massive challenge
📈 Our Opportunity: On March 1st 2020 we had 600 companies, with 2.7M employees, signed up to learn more about Firstbase

Last week, we crossed 11,000 companies with 20M+ employees

The capital helps us to accelerate, build product faster, convert & onboard even more quickly
🏢 Death of HQ: with Covid as the catalyst remote work accelerated by 10-15 years overnight

The biggest companies on the planet are cutting office footprint by 50-70% over the next few years allowing their teams to work from home 2-4 days a week at least
🎡 Hybrid Remote: it doesn't matter if you work remotely full-time or 1 day a week, having the right equipment is essential to ensuring you can do great work

Firstbase is needed by hybrid companies as much as remote companies as a result and we are already working with many
📈 Talent Demands: 90%+ of companies will be more remote after Covid

1 in 25 want to work in an office full-time
3 in 10 want to work from home full-time
7 in 10 want to work from home 3+ days
24 in 25 want to work from home 1+ day

This is still day one for remote work
📆 Business Today: We already work with a large number of companies — from startups everyone loves, traditional global brands, to $Billion companies — serving thousands of workers globally

We're going through legal docs with several extremely large public companies as we speak
🔮 The Future: The future of work is really about the future of living

By making it easy for companies to set up, support and scale a remote team globally we hope to help millions of people experience a higher quality of life due to remote work
🚀 Series A: We’re delighted to close our $13M Series A and welcome @davidu @a16z

@johnnyboufarhat, @ElizabethTurner, @BiedermanRob, @rwsimonetti, @andrewvigneault, @theteaguns, @austin_rief, @alanafanderson also join

We couldn't wish for a better team as we scale
🌱 Seed Round: This follows our $2M Seed Round in August, led by @davidrgoldberg at @alpacavc

@MGCardamone @murphJ11 at @Acceleprise, @karenappleton at @BCapitalGroup, @andreasklinger, @adrianaoun, @DrewTunney, @lucy_guo, @cyantist, @peggymangot, @BrewdogJames also taking part!
🙏 Thank you: Last and most importantly, we couldn't do any of this without the incredible team who have helped us get here

All incredibly talented, hardworking, and warm-hearted people that make being part of Firstbase special
❤️ Join us: we’re hiring for a number of roles already. We would love to talk to you if you are interested!

✍️ editor-in-chief
⚙️ head of product
💰 sales executives
🎨 product designer
🌉 backend developers
🗽 frontend developers
