I don’t know who needs to hear this, but McGrath’s approval was lower than McConnell’s & the 18% figure cited in a viral thread is from 3 years ago. Re: Lindsey Graham, comparing his turnout in 2020 to his turnout in 2014 isn’t credible. The Dem turnout more than doubled too. 1/
I’ve asked questions of the account listing these figures but received no response. Please stop directing my attention to these nonsense (in my opinion) threads. The only credible parts are concerns about the vendors and their history, which I and many others have written... 2/
... about for years. 3/
If we want to be able to discount nonsense from Trump supporters, we must be careful to not spread nonsense ourselves. 4/
IMO, post 1 at the top of the viral KY thread shld be taken down as misinformation bc it falsely claims that McConnell’s approval was only 18% when he won. The new LG thread is also misleading bc it omits that the Dem total also more than doubled between 2014 & 2020. 5/
Everyone makes mistakes. But when u refuse to correct them or engage w/ legitimate concerns, then that’s a problem. 6/
Here is one place where I gave her the correction. She admits elsewhere that the 18% she cited is from 2017. But this correction is not included as a post to the thread itself. 7/
Nate Silver gave McConnell a 96% chance of winning. Yes, polls are often wrong. But if we are going to use them to make a point, it is important to properly report what they said and to delete or conspicuously correct if u get it wrong. 8/ projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-election-…
I’ve done it. Others can do it when they mess up too. And we would all be better for it. 9/
Here is where the 18% came from it is three years old. Very misleading to cite it really 2020 where Mitch was between 39% and 44% approval, & McGrath was about ten points lower. 10/ thehill.com/homenews/state…
Acknowledgement. 11/
So why wasn’t this mentioned in the thread which is about 2020? 12/
And why was there no correction? 13/
15/ Democratic votes in the senate more than doubled from 2014. Why is that not mentioned in the thread?

Trump “attacked the election machines for being insecure & opaque, the very thing his party enabled & fought reform of for the last 4 years. Of course electronic machines are unreliable & unverifiable, the GOP made them that way.” ⁦@LoveisCthulhu⁩ 1/ theecksfactordefense.medium.com/elections-are-…

“Republican members of congress fought election security every step of the way. In Feb 2020, while the GOP president was being impeached 4 soliciting foreign interference in the 2020 election, GOP senators blocked 3 bills 4 increased election security from coming to a vote.” 3/

Example of Cherry Picking Propaganda: “Votes for Politician A DOUBLED between 2014 & 2020. Suspicious!!!”

Omitted Info: Votes for Politician B also doubled! 2014 was a midterm election, whereas 2020 was a presidential year. Presidential years always have higher turnout. 1/ Image
Example of Cherry Picking Propaganda: “Mitch McConnell won in 2020 w/ 18% approval??? Suspicious!!!”

Omitted Info: The 18% approval number is from 2017 & thus outdated! In 2020, his approval was 39%- 44%. More important, his approval much higher than his opponent’s!

@GrassrootsSpeak This thread compares a non-presidential year (2014) to a presidential year (2020) with the faulty (I think) suggestion that vote totals shld be similar. It omits that the Dem in 2020 also more than doubled the Dem in 2014. I’m no fan of ES&S but this analysis seems strained. 1/
@GrassrootsSpeak I’ve asked @GrassrootsSpeak a few questions along these lines. No response. Maybe I’m wrong. Dunno. But so far no one has explained why it makes sense to compare 2014 and 2020. 2/

“In August 2018, Nelson blew the whistle on Russia’s breach of FL voter registration systems, which the DHS (led by Republican Kirstjen Nielsen) & FBI (led by Republican Christopher Wray) had concealed from the public.” 1/
Link: link.medium.com/A3cVeRHtPfb
They confirmed Russia’s breach of Florida election systems only after Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis were declared victorious in their respective races and sworn in. It appears, however, that they would never have confirmed it but for the Mueller report confirming it first. 2/
The FBI is still led by Republican Chris Wray. In January last year, it announced a new policy that “does not include notifying members of Congress or the public when [an election] system is breached…” #FireChrisWray 3/ fcw.com/articles/2020/…
