Besides the numerous textual evidences for the to and fro oscillation of the equinoxes and the pole stars within Shishumara (Ursa Minor), I have highlighted the shifting shadow at the Tropic of cancer in what is called the Jambu Marga. The solstitial limit is moving south + 
presently at the rate of 15 meters / year. This will turn northward anytime in near future signaling the change of direction of the equinox. When it happens the solstice shadow would remain static for years and not move as it is now. This is similar to 'stambhita' or motionless+
phase of the planets as seen from the earth when they change the direction in retrogression. Similar event noted as the 'fall of Yayati' from the heavens before Rama's time. This place is part of Jambu Marga. The shadow started moving again in Rama's time from South to north +
when sage Agastya happened to move to the Tamil lands in the south. Tracking of precession shows that the event of Agastya stopping Vindhyas from growing was indeed the time solstice started moving in fw direction from S to N crossing the Vindhyas. Other details in the link.
The limited movement of the equinoxes within 54° causes no great change in seasons, makes Dhruva (Polaris) to be always near NCP, makes saptarishis always revolve closely around Dhruva mandala, never causes Arundhati to shift her position and offers the only source to date MBh.
