Lawmakers meet in an unclassified setting today to discuss the findings of a probe into a fatal Marine Amphibious Assault Vehicle training accident that happened in 2020 where 9 servicemembers died.

The Naval Safety Ctr. called it the deadliest accident in Marine Corps history when it happened last July.

15 Marines and 1 sailor were aboard as it sank. Half got out alive. One Marine who managed to escape died at the scene while 7 other Marines + the sailor drowned w/the AAV
Among today's witnesses before the House Armed Services subcommittee on Readiness are two fathers of the dead and the commander of the Naval Special Forces & assistant commandant of the USMC

Secy Vilsack during today's WH presser fields a Q on the nat'l climate bank - he met w/farmers this week and he said their response to it was positive; they understood it was the "opportunity of a lifetime" to create new revenue.

Vilsack: Whether it's a fund, conservation or resources, or investments in tech that allow farmers to reuse methane - all of it has to be done w/priority to drive down emissions at the fore.
Vilsack on nat'l climate bank + renewable ag: "The USDA has enormous capacity and an enormous set of tools to provide the resources to the farm community to embrace this future."

Psaki says 29M doses will go out this week, with 2/3 going to jurisdictions, 1/3 going the federal route - should be noted that overall vaccines are seeing a slight dip right now with some states like Arkansas and Iowa saying they wont order new doses this week at all.

At tonight's address, President Biden will not only unveil his $1.8 trillion American Families Plan (check my article for more on that) but he will also call on Congress to lower Rx drug prices and imbue Medicare w/the power to negotiate its own drug prices.

Tonight: President Biden delivers his first address to a joint session of Congress at 9PM ET. On the menu: the American Families Plan which provides universal pre-K, 2 years of free community college for all, extended child tax credits, paid family leave & more

Tonight is also a night of milestones. It is Biden's 100th day in office & his admin has hit its goal of 200M vaccine doses delivered. And, for the first time in U.S. history, the POTUS will be flanked by 2 women on the dais during the address (VP Harris & Speaker Pelosi)
