Psaki says 29M doses will go out this week, with 2/3 going to jurisdictions, 1/3 going the federal route - should be noted that overall vaccines are seeing a slight dip right now with some states like Arkansas and Iowa saying they wont order new doses this week at all.
Thus far, Psaki did not get too far ahead of Biden's expected remarks coming up later. He's expected to talk about shifting allocation of vax to states to shore up sluggish demand, what to expect after getting a vaccine et al
Psaki offers a run down on US assistance to India:
- 6 air shipments of health supplies, oxygen, N95 masks, rapid tests and medicine have been gone out
- More flights are on the way with total assistance expected to exceed $100M (via USAID)
Psaki on US aid to India:
- 1500 oxygen cylinders delivered
- 550 oxygen concentrators + large oxy generation unit
- 2.5M N95 masks sent, an additional 12M masks available should India request
- AstraZeneca to share vax
- 20K courses of Remdesivir delivered to hosp. patients.
Psaki says President Biden later today will also talk more about the WH's July 4 goal of returning America back to greater normalcy.
On the refugee cap of 62,500 Psaki says the objective is 2-fold: sends the message, US welcomes refugees - but it also gets "muscles working that had atrophied for many years," i.e. admitting, processing refugees
Unlikely we'll meet that cap by end of year, she adds.
On getting vaccines to India: "Now we have 0 doses available" but 10M in coming weeks and 50M in coming months for India, @PressSec says.
Good morning. President Biden hits the road to Louisiana today. This afternoon, he'll talk about his American Jobs Plan near the Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles. He's also visiting New Orleans and the Carrolton Water Plant. More later for @CourthouseNews.
Expecting to hear Biden stump for his infrastructure plan today. Get the people on the ground excited, show the condition of roads/bridges, make it undeniable. Perhaps it gets ppl to pressure their lawmakers.
Related: You may recall the Senate just passed a water infrastructure bill to the tune of $35B. It goes to House next where it must pass for these funds to start flowing.

Biden on Cheney: It seems the Republican party is trying to identify what it stands for & they are in the midst of a significant mini revolution going on in the Republican party. @CourthouseNews
Biden on Cheney cont.: "I've been a D for a long time, we've had internal fights/disagreements, I don't remember any like this. [GOP] are further away from figuring out who they are and what they stand for than I thought at this point.
Can Biden still work w/McConnell when McConnell openly proclaims he is opposed to anything this administration would do?
Biden says he's heard McConnell say this in the past, and he was "able to get work done with him."

Vilsack on nat'l climate bank + renewable ag: "The USDA has enormous capacity and an enormous set of tools to provide the resources to the farm community to embrace this future."
