a horrible third wave, friends behind hwy 413, no accessible paid sick days, voting down a bill for 10 paid sick days, bill 124 capping salary for nurses, huge ICU numbers, blackberry 2014, that “stay home” language video that butchered pronunciation, vaccine hunger games
mining claims increasing in grassy narrows territory where suspected mercury dumps haven’t be excavated, attempts to close the border, attempts to turn away foreign students, ministers on vacation, ignoring the science table
those are all and have been everyone’s top headlines really thats just the facts idk 🤷🏻♀️ minus that doct*torship column

the FACT im saying ✨ good luck y’all ✨ to my friends who haven’t slept worried about being rejected from this 18+ ontario vaccine booking is insane. lmk how it goes
this my friend’s set up since 730 am this morning:
so many people thought that the 18+ hot spot announcement from the beginning of april would be something that would be available by end of week / the next week. almost a month later, it’s here and perhaps if that premature announcement wasn’t made it wouldn’t feel so chaotic
like gen z / millennials were basically born into the internet — that isn’t “soon” on their timelines lol
tbh quoting from people via DMs on IG, the premature 18+ ontario announcement has been one of the main things that brought younger people (who didn’t feel governments were accessible) up to speed with how slow and “performative” government processes are
literally no one asked for this and yet we’re still gonna scapegoat foreign students and people who could help build us up (and back) with their knowledge. racist backwards policies
so ministers can go to st. barts or any tropical paradise with the province’s prior knowledge to tan and drink meanwhile an attempt to ban students from getting an education here in canada
im really proud that at the star we have international student reporters like @akrit_michael and @RhythmSachdeva. they've only broadened our perspectives in storytelling. this is a terrible ask and whom is it for if the experts aren't saying this is needed
a white owned trendy spot on ossington is selling bone broth across from golden turtle pho. also sexualizing “jerk” sauce and pho hot sauce and making “superfood dumplings” for profit? y’all im sick
the cultures they are taking from literally fight daily for legitimacy. the *wellness* cleansing of the food, the lack historical understanding, and the number of followers is alarming. im not tryna knock small businesses but damn, this one hurts
i legit threw out my chinese food lunches cos white kids would make fun of it all day. i bought into pizza day and dry ass turkey burgers. so did many others. and now you taking our culture and selling it? and people think it’s legit? damn
