It’s #CucukMYAZ day for my husband and I. On our way, and will update as we go.
As per usual, we are chronically early for everything and are now waiting with others outside for the hall to actually open 😅
We’re at PWTC, by the way, or as I recently discovered through errr registering for the vaccine, WTCKL.
The way to the COVID centre is clearly marked from the entrance, so don’t worry about finding your way.
Waiting, waiting.
Pre-opening briefing: “Don’t worry, ini bukan sale ke apa, tak payah kancheong, we will immunise everyone today as long as you have an appointment.”
I should note that they will not let you in until your appointment time EVEN IF you are early. So just keep that in mind!
This thread is not to syok sendiri or menunjuk, but to help walk through the process for those who may have some anxiety about the vaccination, or those who are still hesitant about getting vaccinated. If you have questions, just @ me and I’ll try my best to answer!
About to enter. They are making everyone double check your date/time. PWTC folks, MySejahtera will say whether you are in Station 1 or Station 2; that’s where you’re supposed to head when you get inside.
Gitu.
You will be asked to wait in socially distanced lines and they will let the lines in one at a time. Please follow the instructions at all times!
I lied, it’s 9:05 and they still haven’t let anyone in yet 😅. Takpe, kita sabar, it’s the first day for the AZ peeps after all.
Letting people in 5 at a time to avoid crowding. Have your MySejahtera open and ready to scan as you enter!
For reference, station 1 is on the left and station 2 is on the right.
When you enter, you are asked to take temp & scan a QR code for your facility in MySJ. There’s a link in your appointment details. My husband’s worked fine, mine kept getting an error message. If this happens to you don’t worry; just scan the regular way, without using the link.
I’ve been led into a waiting room for station 2. THE ROOM IS VERY COLD. Kalau senang sejuk tolong bawak jaket atau sweater.
From the room, we’re lead out here when there are seats available. Then we’ll be called in as our turn comes up.
Dunno if it’s because we’re the first slot of the first day, but the line nak masuk tadi got a bit chaotic lah jugak, with queue jumpers and officials being confused about which line to let in. I hope they iron this out later on because people got a bit heated 😅
My husband is already at the front of his line hahaha cis, my competitive nature kicking in….anyway if your slot is at the same time as someone else’s make sure you set a meeting point outside as you may be done at different times!
To save time, they are handing out consent forms while we wait. You are meant to read and fill them in but NOT sign them yet (that needs to be done in front of a witness). Bawak pen ya, I usually do but of course this is the ONE DAY I forgot.
Here’s the form! Pretty standard. You’ll be shuttled to this area to fill it in. Two copies, one for you, one for the doctor who vaccinates you. Remember to fill in but NOT SIGN YET.
After that is registration. You’ll scan MySJ again here and get a “Welcome!” message. They’ll check your IC, after which you press the link in MySJ that says your IC has been verified.
After that, consultation. Someone will explain the process and any side effects, as well as answer any questions you may have. Be nice to these guys! The man who helped me said he would be on duty until 1pm. That’s a long time to layan orang 😂
Here’s the front of the line when you’re done with consultation. Behind this curtain are several cubicles where vaccines are administered.
I was called in and had the shot administered in about 5 mins. Quick and easy, nak cakap painless tipu lah sebab an injection mesti lah ada pain sikit. Nothing out of the ordinary though! And now I have my first dose of AZ!
Lepas tu masuk observation area. You’ll be asked to surrender your forms here (forgot to mention you’ll sign them with the staff as your witness masa at the consultation area). Then you have to sit and wait for 30 mins. I’m told I can leave at 10:15.
By the way, if you have any language concerns, the consent form is BM on one side and English on the other. Jangan risau k.
I’m still here in observation even though it’s past the time they told me, because I’m waiting for them to call my name. At this point they’ll hand me back one of the consent forms I filled in earlier for my records, and a vaccination card.
I foresee this being a bit of a bottleneck actually, waiting to be called up like this. Regardless, might want to bring a book or something to pass the time. This is also where you can report any unusual symptoms to be attended to!
But don’t get too distracted. They are not using any PA systems or anything and it can be hard to hear your name being called.
My tendency is to be impatient sebenarnya. They told me 10:15 boleh balik! But they’re trying their best and the hold-up is that they’re taking the time to explain to each person carefully the next steps so that everyone understands. Bersabar je lah, kan bulan puasa 😅
I’M DONE! Dah dapat kad and I’m told MySJ will update in 24 hours at the EARLIEST with my second dose appointment, which will only be in 12 weeks. Ni kad vaksinasi :)
Thus ends my #CucukMYAZ journey for round 1. I hope this thread was helpful to you! If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them for you. Tapi soalan pasal tukar timing, tukar appointment I cannot help ya. Tu kena call hotline :)
1. Parking: We parked at Sunway Putra sebab nak avoid any crowds. Just walked across the bridge to PWTC.
2. Will update side effects in a separate thread sebab ni dah panjang gila 😂
Oh, and tip for my fellow muslimahs: Either pakai baju with loose sleeves, or do what I did and pakai cardigan over baju sleeveless. When it’s time to cucuk, just pull the cardigan down a bit. Done!
Ramai yang tanya boleh tak masuk sekali if family members have appointments on the same day, different times. They were strict about making sure you enter according to your time at PWTC. But I have seen some people do it. I guess it doesn’t hurt to ask and hope for the best?
1.5 hours post-shot: I started out with regular soreness at the injection site, but now there’s a numb/lenguh feeling that’s spreading down my arm, even feeling it slightly in my fingers. My husband has the same numbness. We know from our reading that this is normal!
I’m also very sleepy but that’s not the shot, that’s just me sleeping less than 4 hours last night 😂
I can’t be the only one feeling helpless. Malaysians, for those who will be feeling the brunt of the next two weeks, what are some things we can do? Places we can donate to, community initiatives we can signal boost? I want to DO something.
Remember #pulangmengundi. If they won’t take care of us, I want to be part if initiatives that WILL.
