1.5 hours post-shot: I started out with regular soreness at the injection site, but now there’s a numb/lenguh feeling that’s spreading down my arm, even feeling it slightly in my fingers. My husband has the same numbness. We know from our reading that this is normal!
I’m also very sleepy but that’s not the shot, that’s just me sleeping less than 4 hours last night 😂
Also, I have my husband’s permission to document his side effects as well. We are 36 and 37 respectively, no comorbodities, history of high blood pressure and diabetes in our families.
Still holding steady at 1:35, but from what I’ve read, other symptoms only kick in after 6-7 hours so I’m ready.
Remember, only use Panadol/paracetamol ya, not ubat lain.
3:04: Husband’s lenguh is gone and he feels totally fine. I am not lenguh anymore, but the injection site is definitely sore when I move my arm. Other than that, okay so far.
My injection site is definitely a little swollen. I tried to convince my husband this was the effect of lifting weights and not the vaccine but he doesn’t seem convinced….
Don’t know if this is related, but in the interest of documenting the experience: I feel hungrier than usual though I made sure to have a more substantial sahur. Don’t know if this is vaccine related lah tetapi. Feeling pretty tired too. Still fasting.
Past the 6 hour threshold and I am definitely experiencing body aches and that hot-behind-the-eyeballs feeling that you get sebelum demam, y’know?
Annoyingly, my husband is currently JUST FINE. Hmmph.
Wait nevermind he says he suddenly has a headache (which is unusual for him)
If you start feeling the same side effects as me please be more organised than me and plan a food delivery for buka puasa before it is too late.
Sincerely, Hanna who now needs to peel herself off the couch and goreng nasi.
Alright, update at 7:51, 9 hours post-jab: Feeling much better now that I can eat and drink. Injection site is still sore, body aches and a slight headache, very tired. No fever. Took some panadol and will take it easy tonight!
Update at 5:19am, while I’m up for sahur: I have body aches and chills. Again, will take paracetamol after sahur and plan to rest up for the day. Husband feels fine but says he woke up with a slight sore throat.
Again, for anyone reading and worrying about AZ: This is all well within the realm of normal, not just for AZ, malah kalau ambik flu shot biasa je pun. Jangan risau.
24 hours post-jab. I am feeling much better! No more chills, tapi badan rasa penat and lethargic; injection site masih bengkak. Currently supervising my kid from the sofa as he does his online homework 😂
12:43: Just got back home after being forced to go out to run an errand. PENATNYA. My body is still clearly dealing with the after effects. Listen to your body and rehat je if you can.
3:21pm, almost 30 hours lepas kena jab: Just woke up after a solid 2-hour nap. Still tired 😅 but I also didn’t sleel much last night because…my kid had a nightmare lol. Feeling slightly feverish but my temperature is normal.
Btw dalam replies ni ramai je yg share experiences masing2. Boleh tengok how different it can be from person to person.
Mcm my husband, yg sampai sekarang mcm tak kena inject pun, takde effect, rilek je 🙃
In contrast to semalam when I was super hungry, today lepas buka takde selera sangat nak makan pulak 😅. I still ate, but not much, enough to lapik perut nak makan pcm.
Good morning! 5:38am and I’m up for sahur. Vaccine update: my arm is still a little sore and rasa penat tu masih ada, but other than that I feel fine.
And for the record, I gladly accept the symptoms of the past couple of days over COVID, without question.

I can’t be the only one feeling helpless. Malaysians, for those who will be feeling the brunt of the next two weeks, what are some things we can do? Places we can donate to, community initiatives we can signal boost? I want to DO something.
Remember #pulangmengundi. If they won’t take care of us, I want to be part if initiatives that WILL.
