THREAD

As someone who is patriotic and cares deeply about India, I think Modiji is the best possible person right now to lead the country. Having said that, I also believe that this govt isn't doing all that great and here are some suggestions from my end 1/n
A) This Govt's communication sucks. I mean really. They all chimpus jumping around from studio to studio delivering homilies. Stop all that. Take a leaf out of the US' way of doing things. Have a press officer and hold daily press briefings. Even more important in a pandemic. 2/n
B) Do a mea culpa about the COVID handling. Accept that the govt bungled. There is enough blame to go around to state govts and the citizens, but as a mature govt., accept that you dropped the ball. That will actually make people trust you more. 3/n
Sack a minister or two to show your seriousness. Get a task force together that can act as a nodal point. Right now everything seems very disorganized (note.. not unorganized).

Also, Modiji, you are not a Sadguru. Please don't come on TV and give homilies. 4/n
People want to know what steps are being taken to ensure a) Vaccinations for all b) Adequate supply of Beds and O2 cylinders c) Adequate supply of medicines. Please talk about this, rather than in generalities. 5/n
C) Ensure the writ of the state - Ever since Shaheen Bagh, Delhi Riots, Farmers Protests, and now the #Bengal #BengalViolence , people have seen a weak central government. Violence must ONLY be the prerogative of the state for a peaceful society to exist. 6/n
You are not going to earn any brownie points from liberals and their stooges in India and the Western media for your restraint. So don't try.

Too many of your Ministerial colleagues seem to have this inferiority complex of gaining the Liberal pat on the back. 7/n
Please ask them to desist from doing that. There is no percentage in that.

The common man trusts you. So far. He might still vote for you since the alternatives are not even worth thinking about. 8/n
D) Drop all your non performing ministers. There are many. There are some great ones like Gadkariji or Piyush Goyalji. The others are dragging your govt. down.

E) Kindly de-centralize things. Give your good ministers more agency. You can't do everything. 9/n
A great leader delegates well. Centralizing everything won't work.

F) Above all, The Buck Stops With You. So people WILL ask questions of you as the leader, as they should.

10/n
I am just an ordinary Indian who believes you are the best hope to keep this country secure. Hopefully these are taken in the right spirit.

If you aren't listening to @PMOIndia @narendramodi right now, please do listen. He is laying out a compelling case for the Farm loans. Irrfutable. Just listen. Brilliant!
Started off by quoting former PM Charan Singhji that in 1970 nearly 51% of farmers had < 1 hectare of land. Now that has increased to 68%. upto 2 hectares, that's 84% of all Indian farmers. These farmers don't even have bank accounts. Can't take loans. So loan writeoffs - no use
Spoke about Fasal Bima Yojana. Then Gram Sadak Yojana. All these are in aid of the "small farmer". PM keeps repeating that. #FarmLaws

With all the anti-Hindu narrative coming from all over the world, it is perhaps the right time to remind everyone that in no other country in the world, have we seen minorities rising to top positions as in India.
We hv hd minority Presidents (Muslims and Sikh), aminority PM 1/n
A minority (Italian born, Christian) leader of the government. We have had Jewish Generals. Our most revered Army Chief was of the Parsi faith. We have had Sikh Army Chiefs. Muslim cricket players and captains and Generals. Our mot revered IT company head is a Muslim.

2/n
Our most revered business houses Tatas are minority Parsis. Can we do more for our folks? Absolutely yes. But the way the "majority" Hindu has afforded opportunities to everyone is often forgotten or at worst, obfuscated.
Show me another country with that does this. 3/n

Let us now look at the role the Media played.. or didn't play.
Why am I being told today that VMSingh has property worth 600 Cr? Who or what is a "gangster-turned-activist"? Why didn't the media highlight these guys? Surely there is a story there! Of course I realize that.. 1/n
it didn't fit into the narrative of the "poor struggling kisan", but surely, an unbiased media should have rooted these stories out?
Even if most of us could see that these were very far from the "poor kisans", with their SUVs and Benzes, iPhones and Tommy Hillfigers..2/n
Surely the media should have done their jobs?

But then again, maybe I expect too much from our MSM. Is it any wonder that nobody trusts these news channels anymore?

I must tender an apology today. An apology to Mr. Amit Shah and to this govt. On the 26th, while watching that yellow flag inside the Red Fort, I, like most other patriots, reacted emotionally. I felt that the Delhi Police should have pushed back harder.
I was wrong. 1/n
So what changed? You might ask.
I heard Rakesh Tikait say something like this: "They pulled dwn the flag bt d police did not fire a single bullet".
That's when it hit me that people like @mchellap who had been saying that the police inaction was actually a solid move were rt 2/n
By NOT reacting to the provocation in the expected manner, the govt., has taken the wind out of their sails.
can't write WaPo/NYT/WSJ articles on bullets that have nt been fired. You can't create narratives without enough bodies (that one death was due to the dead man's idiocy3/n
