I really am getting to the point that I think a lot of minors who are diving into LGBT discourse and making assertions about history, identities, labels, etc. aren't helping and they should kind of stop and listen to people who have been at this for awhile.
I don't mean to not have opinions or get involved, but rather I mean before making factual assertions about these things learn the histories associated with them. Not even having to agree with everyone else, just learn about the history please this is harming the community
I don't want to ostracize, harass, pile-on, or otherwise direct any kind of punitive action against anyone, I just need this destructive "You're either with us or we'll destroy your life" pattern of behavior to end.
I realize not everyone involved are minors, and I'm not happy about them either, but a lot of minors have been kicking off discourse about say "bi lesbians" and directing harassment at those who do not comply over the past couple years.
I don't even mean everyone has to get along. No one's making anyone quote tweet anyone else, screencap their tweets, or seek people out to harass. People could just choose to not do that and find other ways to spend their time.
And "elders" still exist. I know it's popular discourse about how all the elders are gone because of AIDS but it's been a few decades since the worst of that. The issue isn't a lack of guidance. The issue is some people treat LGBT rights like they're a game of mad libs.

Headmates can be anyone or literally anything. Doesn't even have to be human, and it's fine to be open about who and what one's headmates are - but being those things doesn't necessarily confer the material circumstances of being those things. A TME system with trans women as
headmates who appeared to be men but now are clearly women does not experience the material circumstances of trans womanhood, trans femininity, and transmisogyny. That doesn't mean they aren't who they say they are, but it does mean care should be taken in openly identifying in
certain ways. This applies to a whole lot of material circumstances outside of being trans. If you're profoundly wealthy, and you have a headmate who's dirt poor, that headmate is not *materially* dirt poor and likely has no material experiences of poverty to draw upon.
"Assigned male at birth" and "assigned female at birth" are not meant to be stand ins for "biological sex." They're meant to be what you were *assigned* by other humans. There's no such thing as an "amab body" or an "afab body."
These were terms meant to highlight how gender is imposed on us not divide people into who produces the large gametes or small gametes and if you take "trans women are definitionally AMAB women" to mean "You're saying only women with penises can be trans women" then you're either
deeply mistaken or interpreting in bad faith. Either way AMAB and AFAB aren't meant to say "You have a specific set of reproductive organs." They're meant to say "You were put into this box and that box and expected to live accordingly."
The problem with cis people is that they would rather millions of trans people esp trans children suffer than risk accidentally providing transition services to one cis person
Institutions don't just stop providing services on the strength of one court case. They already didn't want to provide them and this was a convenient excuse
Instead of focusing on the health care trans people need, we should instead focus on why cis people are so angry about it and why it's just accepted that this is any of their business
Watching more and more people draw explicit connections and comparisons from the "GC" movement to fascism and constantly remembering people who insisted for years that the GC movement is itself not inherently fascist
The cool stuff here is it's all stuff that's been pointed out over and over again by multiple people, even with direct comparisons to various definitions of fascism but it's somehow more important to acknowledge Julie Bindel's done good work than that she wants trans people gone.
There's no common ground. There's no compromise. Nothing will be good enough for them but ending our ability to exist as trans people. They openly fantasize about sending us to concentration camps, compare us to groups like Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and the Stasi, constantly promote
Every so often someone has an enlightenment about the nature of gender in trans people and tries to tell everyone the "right" way to process their gender (usually that it's not innate) and I feel as I often do that calling it "gender identity" has caused people to just push all
the correct discourse about how *gender* is a social construct onto gender identity without significant analysis as to what gender identity may be, how it might come about, etc. And I do not think that it's really accurate or necessary to simply say "gender identity" is itself
identical to or drawn entirely from the social construct of gender. I don't mean to say that gender is innate or whatever, but that does NOT mean people aren't ~really~ their gender, given that social constructs are real, just often arbitrary and can change all the time.
