12 characteristics of highly successful people.

How many do you possess?

//THREAD//
1: Positive

Successful people are relentlessly positive.

They expect things to go right, and more times than not, they do.

The Placebo Effect works.
2: Produce

Consumers spend money. Watch TV. Play video games.

Producers make money.

▫ They write
▫ They create
▫ They build

Success is attracted to those who produce.
3: Confident

They believe that they belong, even when they don't.

Turn Impostor Syndrome on its head and you have a recipe for success.
4: Risk-tolerant

Successful people take risks, period.

▫ Investments
▫ Businesses
▫ Inventions
▫ New paths

Playing it safe doesn't breed success.
5: Patient

Unsuccessful people quit too early.

Successful people *know* when to quit.

Patience is a virtue that makes success possible.
6: Self-reliant

Successful people rely on themselves to:

▫ Solve problems
▫ Acquire wisdom
▫ Build opportunities

Your mind is your best resource. Use it.
7: Creative

Creativity lets us try new things.

To build things that are:

▫ Better
▫ Quicker
▫ Stronger

Successful people don't just color between the lines.
8: Ethical

They live and die by their code of ethics.

Successful people:

▫ Sleep well at night
▫ Listen to their conscience
9: Exercise

Regular exercise gives successful people:

▫ Strength
▫ Confidence
▫ Energy

I've known very few highly successful people that don't lift or walk regularly.
10: Unafraid

Successful people are unafraid of failure.

They also aren't perfectionists. They understand nothing is perfect.

Failure happens. All that matters is what you do after.
11: Honesty

Liars don't get ahead - at least consistently.

Honest people are successful because people:

▫ want to work with them
▫ implicitly trust them
▫ respect them

Honesty WILL make you successful.
12: Prioritize

▫ Successful people produce before they consume
▫ Their health is more important than money
▫ Their time is more precious than fame

Successful people know what's important.
They go after it, protect it, and nurture it.
Notice what is absent from this list?

- cars
- money
- degrees
- big homes
- pricey suits
- best cell phones

Things in general. Things don't produce success.

11 unpopular opinions that will make you very, very rich.

++THREAD++
1. Getting rich is a habit.

Habits are the things we do without thinking about them.

Rich people's habits are different than most.

Rich people:

▫ Think long-term
▫ Have tangible goals
▫ Believe that time is money
▫ Diet and exercise regularly
2. Making money is easy.

Value sells.

All you need to do is identify a skill that you have that people want to pay for.

I firmly believe *all of us* have marketable skills.

Rich people identify them, use them, and monetize them.

What if you want to retire early, but you don't make $250,000 a year?

What then? 👇

++THREAD++
I get it.

You read stories about people retiring early. In their 40s. Maybe even 30s.

Then, you find out how much money they made during their careers.

Well fuck, it's easy to "retire early" when you're racking in $250K a year.

What about the rest of us?
Early retirement basics:

To retire early, you need enough wealth to last another 40 to 50 years.

▫ Some of us spend $100,000 a year
▫ Others, maybe just $50,000 a year
▫ I know people who spend $12,000 a year

What does this tell us?

How did my wife and I save 70% of our income before retiring in our 30s?

This is how. 👇

//THREAD//
1: We both made good money.

Combined, our household income was slightly above $200K.

Naturally, that makes it way easier to save 70% of our combined income.

A big income is great, but it's not the only factor.
2: We gave ourselves a reason to save.

You're much more likely to save if you're saving for a reason.

For us, it was early retirement.

For you, it might be retirement. Or a life of travel. Living overseas.

Whatever it is, know your reason.

The 14 worst pieces of financial advice I've ever heard.

//THREAD//
1: Watching Netflix will make you poor.

Watching Netflix isn't the issue.

It's a lack of motivation.

An unmotivated person who cancels Netflix will replace it with another distraction.

You aren’t a lazy bastard if you watch Netflix.

Just keep it in moderation.
2: You can't get rich working a 9 to 5.

I'm proof-positive that's a lie.

With proper money management skills, your 9-to-5 CAN MAKE YOU RICH.

It happens all the time.

20 things that will make you much happier, starting NOW.

A guide to being happy.

//THREAD//
1: Exercise daily.

Regular exercise keeps the blood flowing, our bodies strong and healthy, and looking great.

It also helps reduce anxiety, stress, and depression.

Smile and Exercise. You're literally halfway there.
2: Stop playing the victim.

Victims believe the world is out to get them.

And, nobody wants to be around professional victims.

You're not a victim.
