writing this thread now because i try to avoid twitter on the weekend and, frankly, it isn't easy 1/
this will now be the 5th mother's day without my mom, Paulette Rosemarie Lowe-Willis. i, my family, and the world lost her 6 yrs ago (may 14, 2015).
i kind of think you really know you miss someone when you feel physical pain when thinking about the hole their absence left.
i feel like this all the time. i talk about her all the time (ask anyone who knows me irl). i think about her all the time.
i dont think about her w the same intensity every day. but every day for 6 years i think about her. i miss her more than words can say.
i think i sort of have the zeal of a zealot when i talk about my mom, cause im always trying to convince people, "no, seriously, my mother was amazing."
but she really was. she wasn't famous, but she had an impact on so many people's lives, far beyond my own.
it doesn't necessarily "get better." for me, there's never "moving in." its not that i wallow in the sorrow -- she'd be upset if i did that -- but it's there and will always be there.
but the upside is nobody has ever known her like me. nobody.
so i think about her a lot on the special days - her birthday, my birthday, christmas, and mother's day. but all the other time too. and i miss her a lot. more than words can say.
she used to refer to herself as "oliver's mother" -- and me? im paulette's son.
so happy mother's day, mom. mommy. mother. i miss you a whole ton, and one day we'll be back together and we've got a lot to catch up on. 💔💓💗♥️❤️
want to go back into the movie theater. currently there's no trailer for anything that has me saying "omg holy shit i gotta go." black widow looks good and ill see it in theater, but i need something to give me AWE now.
me, walking back into the regal movie theater with a year of movie points credits stacked to the ceiling
*waves dismissively to the masses*
"give the peasants some popping corn"
how is it "dirty" and "in the mud" for the democrats to simply say a news story proves a democratic point or disproves a republican one? i hear this excuse *a lot* but it makes zero sense. this is literally their job, to advocate for a point of view, a solution.
when the jobs report came out today, nearly every republican in congress sent out some kind of message to the effect of "see, biden isnt working." its substantially nonsense but it gets a message out. they did their jobs. that's a big part of the job.
how have we now defined now basic communications response 101 to being in the mud? and im not necc singling out this person. i hear this *a lot*. to even use some of the gop's comm technique, regardless of substance, is somehow automatically "bad."
stop letting the internet get u mad about culture u like. i dunno, maybe im just an outlier, but i dont have the emotional energy to get *so mad* about a lot of these things.
if a book/game/movie/etc sucks then consume... something you like? the entitlement is annoying. like the creator has to individually service your tastes? come on.
when i play a game that i think is bad, i just... stop playing it and go back to one i like. there are comic characters i dislike so... i don't read them. im never going to buy a lobo book. some of u will never buy superman, i buy every one he's in. relax.
my dad called me the other day to tell me he's going to get married and honestly its the most hilarious thing ever (i'm happy for him but the whole situation is a comedy and ill write it up in detail at some point)
the bottom line is my father is a *terrible* communicator
as a preview: when you are talking about your girlfriend to your son, give a guy a heads up that this person who just sounds like your "friend" is in fact your girlfriend. (im never going to stop laughing about this)
my mom: oh this is my boyfriend and these are all the things about him and his ups and downs and this and that
Under #PresidentBiden, jobless claims are COLLAPSING! Americans are WORKING AGAIN, they're getting POWERFUL VACCINES and the country is OPENING UP!! Biden is STRONGLY leading America out of the economic COLLAPSE and is MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!! #maba#jobs#jerbs ⭐️⭐️⭐️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
"A strong man, powerful man, this is a big guy, very rough, ok? Very rough guy, he comes up to me and says 'Sir, I don't think the jobless claims will go down, sir.' And I looked him in the eye and I said 'it will.' And now look at it it is powerfully down."
"And now the claims are down, I mean way down, wow they've never been more down before they're saying the down is unprecedented. And this man, a strong guy okay? He comes up to me, tears streaming down his face, and he says, 'Thank you sir, we got our country back, sir.' True."
