The "intolerance" has metastasized to inhumanity.

I recently touched on this topic in two podcasts where I spoke about animalistic behavior that, if engaged in by humans, would be considered sociopathic.

Basically, my premise was that what separates humans from animals is...1/
...the ability to use judgment/reason to temper/override otherwise impulsive animalistic behavior.

One of the most primal, animalistic behaviors humans possess is a survival instinct….to self-preserve, even at the expense of the collective interests of the rest of species. 2/
Unfortunately, this instinct to self-preserve has expanded from literal survival into a more contextual or relative state, that can be real or imagined. 3/

We have seen the manifestation of this behavior in humans repeatedly over a scarcity of resources. Wars have been fought over oil. At some point wars may be fought over a diminishing supply of fresh water. 4/
We are currently failing to address the climate change crisis, at least in part, not necessarily because of a disparity in resources (fossil fuels)….but because of a fear of a disparity of the “right” to consume those resources:…. 5/
….if the U.S. curbs its fossil fuel consumption, developing economies (China) will have an economic advantage when those countries do not curb their consumption.

As a result, the world is in a collective race to the ecological bottom. 6/
Circling back to intolerance/inhumanity, the point I was trying to make on the podcasts was about the effect that fear......especially disinformation-induced fear......has on the collective human psyche.

From a neurobiological standpoint,....7/
.....the more evolved, cerebral cortex is located the furthest from the primitive brain stem....and contributes to the functions that make us human such as reason, judgment, and perhaps even our conscience because of its role in awareness/consciousness. 8/
But fear is a primal response that originates in the amygdala, located closer to the primitive brain stem.

Fear is an evolutionary response that helps guarantee survival. An animal relies on fear to instinctively engage a "binary" fight or flight response to survive. 9/
If there is any delay in cognitive processing, the animal risks being defeated in battle if hesitates to “fight”....or risks being caught in “flight” if it hesitates to flee.

Fight or flight requires animals to react first, and then think later, if at all. 10/
This is occurring in politics.

Decades of fear mongering/demagoguery have conditioned people’s primitive fear responses to be in a constant state of “hyper-vigilance” (not unlike PTSD) see enemies everywhere.....and to view everything as a "threat" to their survival. 11/
Demagogues have incited people to fear minor “threats” to status (collective narcissism), wealth, and lifestyle.

As a result, “threats” to a white, Christian, unregulated gun-owning society is equated to a literal existential threat to survival. 12/
It’s why, as @ReedGalen pointed out in the @projectlincoln podcast, some guy feels the need to plaster “don’t tread on me” stickers on the back window of his six-figured ($) ego machine even though that guy likely has never been “tread on”. 13/
It’s not about actual victimhood.

It’s about perceived victimhood, and the need to keep 45% of this country in a "hyper-vigilant" state of perpetual victimhood, as explained here. 14/
The byproduct of this perpetual state of victimhood is that a number of otherwise decent people are incited into such and irrational emotional state that they not only tolerate intolerance….but, in some cases, they’re willing to embrace inhumanity. 15/

When the Right:
1) refuses to acknowledge the 2020 election
2) pushes alternate reality-creating lies/disinformation
3) loses access to the common shared reality (platforms)

...they claim victimhood for being excluded from a reality that they refuse to acknowledge exists

This is a pattern designed to project/normalize the Right's dysfunction by attempting to label some aspect, behavior, or even the entire ideology of the Left/Progressivism to create a false/moral equivalency.

In a recent thread I pointed this out about "mob justice"...1/
The thread analyzed the Right's "secession" from the Rule of Law, and repeated embrace of "mob justice" even as they accuse the Left of engaging in it, with the implicit message being:
"if it's all mob justice, then none of it is" 2/
Another thread analyzed the Right's attempt to excuse Trump’s pathological dishonesty with allegations of the Left lying:

"If everyone is lying, then no one is lying"……because lying is normalized: 3/

Once again the Right "secedes" from the rule of law. Notice the reference to "Democratic prosecutors". When every attempt to enforce the law is politicized, there is essentially nothing anyone on the Right can do that is criminal, b/c all enforcement is "politically motivated".
More on the Right's "secession" from the rule of law:
The raid on Giuliani's apartment happened today. Yet Watters w/out any knowledge of the case/evidence is declaring Giuliani innocent. They confiscated Giuliani's phone. Remember when he was shaking it as if to threaten Trump about what was on it?

There's a common theme that weaves through grievance politics, perpetual victimhood, “cancel culture”, the recent anti-riot laws, and the January 6th insurrection.
A recent example of perpetual victimhood and grievance was this rant by @TuckerCarlson. 1/
In Carlson’s snowflake world, a guy exercising his 2nd Amendment Right to have an AR-15 slung over his shoulder, should “politely, but firmly” ask a 64 year old woman to “take off your mask…...2/
....because your mask is making me uncomfortable”….that it’s “repulsive”, and that it should be illegal, that police, and child protective services should be called. 3/

The, “how do we fix this” is perhaps the most important question we face as a country. To the extent that it can be fixed, it starts with framing and language used to describe the problem/solution. The “deprogramming” and “brainwashed” verbiage has to be eliminated. 1/
No one is receptive to finding “common ground” when the starting point of the person who claims to desire common ground is telling them they’ve been brainwashed, and that they need to be “deprogrammed”. 2/
This plays into the “Totalitarian” narrative that Tucker Carlson is propagating, even going so far as using the “don’t believe your own eyes” to reinforce the narrative. 3/
