I sometimes wonder if people try to diversify certain spaces to feel less guilty about their participation in those spaces
Like removing To Kill a Mockingbird from the curriculum because it uses the N word doesn’t change the fact that you’ve chosen to send your kid to an elitist private school that also (likely) contributes to segregation in K-12 schooling
An ERG lobbying Amazon to donate to HBCUs doesn’t fundamentally change the fact that Amazon abuses its workers
Sometimes I just wonder if people are actually reflecting on what they’re trying to achieve or if it’s just an exercise in ego
My theory is that Clubhouse's popularity comes from the fact that the barrier for entry to attempt to be an influencer is relatively low compared to YouTube, IG or even Twitter
No need to produce perfect videos or photos. Just start rooms and talk a lot
People say we're living in the creator culture/economy but to me it's really the 15 minutes of fame economy. Everyone wants to be an influencer
Does anyone else just have moments where the full weight of the realization that the federal government has abandoned us during a pandemic hits you?
I mean I think about the pandemic all day and am constantly figuring out how to best be of service but sometimes I’ll just be reading or drinking a glass of wine and the full weight of this moments hits me
