Great thread by 17c.

Expanding a bit:

The system compulsively cultivates "expert opinion" in every area - co-opting the consensus to ensure that it is always pro-expansion of regime power in one way or another and the only valid opinion in an area.
See the recent N Wade piece about the lab leak hypothesis

What was the system doing? In one sense box ticking - the system needs to be thought of as serious so it funds some research that it can plausibly describe as being done to "prevent pandemics"

nicholaswade.medium.com/origin-of-covi…
The output existed - papers that were shiny and *peer reviewed* so the reddit tier people can bark like seals about *peer review*.

At the same time, it created a stifling "consensus" in the field to *never question the logic of doing that research in the first place*.
Anyone who did risked getting cut off from grants and out of science and then that person isn't a brave scientist but an outside crank.

The system was doing something insane but had to protect it because it couldn't think because to think throws the whole system into question.
Once the pandemic was unleashed it turns out that there was another "consensus" - based on absolutely nothing at all (so they claim) but actually based on the same needs of protecting the system - the idea that "closing borders doesn't work to stop disease transmission".
Of course that idea is fundamentally *insane* if the germ theory of disease is correct - if infected people don't cross borders, then infections don't spread but the "consensus" opposed it.

How would "open borders fight disease"?

Truly a baffling prospect but one *necessary* for the the system - that there is no downside the things the system needs and wants. It only has to consider expert opinion and it owns all the experts - disagree and you're not an expert.

We have a woke capital problem because limited government conservatives failed to curtail the infinite morass of regulations on corps because they were afraid to attack anti-discrimination regulation.

Now it's been used as a weapon to ensure that corps never displease the left.
Why doesn't a United competitor come out and say "fly with us, we won't hire quota diversity pilots"?

Because there would be a million lawsuits and investigations and the company would be bankrupt in a week and the executives in jail.
Is that "limited government conservatism"? Did those people ever fight it?

They ceded the entire battle because even LGCs believe that there should be unlimited government efforts ... to stop racism.

Simply false.

The dating market entirely reflects women's preference for a very simple reason - dating apps live and die by getting women to sign up for them; no women -> no men, no app so they cater to women and have to cater better to women than alternatives like free drinks.
Tinder reflects what women want - low ego-risk sex with high value men.

If women are offering pussy *some* man is going to take them up on it - period.

The only possible solution is to restrain women's ability to do this.
You're a dating app executive - what's your product? Pussy.

What's your competition? Anywhere women can meet men without you - bars, concerts, walks in the park, lines at the grocery story, etc.

How do you lure them away from those on to your app? Offer them what they want.

As elite selection is more and more done on the basis of ideological conformity to an insane ideology elite competence and intelligence declines.

Thread for tracking examples of this as they come across my timeline.
First example is very straightforward:

The more ideologically filtered for conformity to the zeitgeist, the less competent at basic math

Let's talk about this iteration of this recent meme (memetic evolution is amazing, btw)
First, the perfect rebuttal to the interpretation of this meme where *then* we were religious but now we're not:

Maybe you need more argument on this point; if so there's plenty of reading for you at unqualified reservations.

How did we go from the left to the right?

Listening live to the scanner in NY something sounds like a planned operation - they were setting fires and doing things to get more and more cops away from police HQ (if that is what they were using as a dispatch point) then the mob dispersed and a different mob descended on HQ
Scanner feed is here, fyi

broadcastify.com/webPlayer/32890
Background on that, btw is that they were setting fires at University and 13th Street and moved downtown; over time the cops dispatched more and more officers to... look at them I guess
