- In July 2017 we were told we were being tested for ACM3 cladding
- In Jan 2018 our managing agents told us 15-20% of our building was ACM3 cladding & needed to be replaced
- In 2018, building owner took us to court to clarify residents had to pay for the remediation & they won
- We were told to expect bills of £5k each, then 10k, then 15k, then up to 25k, as costs went up and up
- one of our buildings started a Waking Watch, and residents were paying £200 per month
- For 18 tireless months we campaigned in the media about the injustice
- In February 2019, we were told a finance solution had been found which meant residents wouldn’t have to pay for the ACM3 and HPL cladding remediation
- In July 2019 the work started
- I met with our MAs monthly to understand progress and communicate out to other residents
- In Jan 2020, I asked the MA to ensure all sign off was lined up (including newly introduced EWS1 regulations)
- In Feb 2020 MA confirmed a fire engineer ready to complete EWS ready to go once work completed
- Remediation work completed in May 2020
- Building Control certification from Manchester City Council was provided in May 2020
- EWS1 still no where is sight
- In October 2020 we were told cladding is fine, but we don’t know what’s on the other 50% of the wall
(WTF?!)
- In Nov 2020, the need for additional on-site investigatory work was needed, as the original drawings/plans/manuals couldn’t be found
- In Jan 2021 additional on-site work took place to understand what they walls were made up of
- For three months we chased for results
Today, we’ve been told that the results are back, but still haven’t been told what they are
Our building is registered with the BSF, but this now leaves only 37 working days for our building owner to produce a tender, contractors to reply, work our full costings, and a full application submitted for the deadline of the 30th June 2021
A year after work had completed and the EWS is only just been received
Nearly 4 years since we were told our building is unsafe
