The temples that were never consecrated...

The earliest and finest Rock-Cut Temples are the "Pancha - Vimanas" of Mamallapuram.

@ReclaimTemples @punarutthana @LostTemple7 @TheSaveTemples @wiavastukala @narendramodi @prahladspatel
They are locally called "Pancha Pandava Rathas", though they have no relation to the Pandavas.

The one visible here is the "DharmaRaja Ratha" or the proper "Dravida Vimana" carved incomplete under the patronage of the Pallava King NarasimhaVarman I.
In temple building activity, the "Purna Kumbha" is the last element to be completed.

The placing of PurnaKumbha on the central top of the Shikhara of the temple called "Kendra Garbha", officially means the Final closure of the roof.

Let's be clear on this.
There are three kinds of stones selected for Sculpting the Murtis in our temples.

Pumshila, Strishila & Napunsaka Shila.

Thread...

@ReclaimTemples @punarutthana @LostTemple7 @TheSaveTemples @wiavastukala @priya_27_
1. Pumshila when hit with a stone sounds like Metal Iron. This stone is used for making the "Moola Viraats" (Main deities) of temple.

That's the reason, all the Moola Viraats make such sound.

Pumshilas are strong, suitable for making Life Size Murtis.
2. StriShila sounds like a Brass vessel.
They are used for making the "Devi" Murtis or the Consorts of Moola Viraats. In General the Devi Murtis are lesser in size in comparison to Moola Viraats. So, a smaller shila with lesser quality will do.

A thread on the status of temples,

As we think #FreeHinduTemples is not just the issue. The Temple Problems are Multi Level & Multi Fold. Mainly the way they are preserved, renovated & cared.

@ReclaimTemples @punarutthana @LostTemple7 @SadhguruJV @ShefVaidya @TheSaveTemples
The step motherly treatment of Hindu Temples can be felt from the photos Shared here.

1. These 1000 yrs old Ashapuri Temples built by Pratiharas & Paramars are yet to be renovated.
2. The mutilated Murtis from this temple complex lie in utterly neglected state in a small compound few Kms away. Look at the condition of Murtis @wiavastukala

Many are not even aware of what's happening to Hindu Temples because of this draconian "Places of Worship Act".

Let's educate, create awareness among our circles & unite to fight for its repeal.

@ReclaimTemples @punarutthana @LostTemple7
After 1000 yrs of plunder, Ransack and Mutilation of Hindu temples & illegal construction of Masjids/Churches over the desecrated temples, PV Narasimha Rao Govt came up with "Places of Worship Ac" in 1991.
This act is so biased & against the "Religious Freedom" that it prohibits Hindus from claiming their own "Temples" which are under illegal occupation.

This 2300 Yrs Old Painting is from the “Tikula Caves” near Gwalior, MP.

One of the earliest depictions of Hindu Gods “Balarama/Sankarshana”, “Vasudeva/Sri Krishna” and “Shakti of Vishnu/Ekanamsha”.

Though much old look at the intricate details this painting holds.

Let us look at them.

1.Balarama is holding Hala (Plough) & Gada (Mace).

2.Vasudeva is holding Gada (Mace) & Chakra (Wheel).

3.Shakti of Vishnu holding the “Chatra” (Parasol) over Vasudeva.
Note that the Gada of Vasudeva is slightly different from that of the Balarama.

What surprises me is the “Chatra” held by Shakti/Ekanamsha which is a defining element in the Hindu Iconography later.
