My previous tweet said this letter was signed by French generals. I was wrong, these are active duty soldiers. The first letter, two weeks ago, was signed by ex-generals. Here is a story about the second letter, this week's france24.com/en/france/2021…

What's interesting here is that these are exactly the same lies that the Trump admin and campaign and its botnets and other enablers were pushing. Different language, same bullshit. It's like that all over the world
That's how I know it's been coordinated. It's formulaic, swaps out regional details but keeps the overall plots, and weaponized disformation only ever exists to attack democratic norms and human rights. A global, far right power grab.

That's how they keep us in line, keeping us tied to piddling little grants that many of us ending up depending on in order to be able to do our increasingly important work. Sometimes they make us go into debt to pay "tuition." It's a way of keeping the Poors out of the plum jobs
Newsrooms are absolutely rotten with one huge and often completely invisible bias. Because the pay is so poor and investigative journalism work in particular can be relatively expensive and time consuming (I don't let anybody buy me food or drinks when I'm interviewing them, for
example, and never have -- which means I'll pick up the tab for us both, which can get expensive if you let interviewees choose the place to meet) it means that it self selects for people who can AFFORD to work in journalism. Which carries a HUGE set of expectations and biases

This is why we don't do a lot of new debunks lately. We've already debunked a lot of it. Now we're trying to get ahead of new disinformation campaigns on social media, which always refers back to old bullshit to give a sense of unbroken bullshit history
But what's cool is not only has every shitty fascist public figure and official in the world come after us in the last few years, we've also become alienated from some of our closer friends and family members in some cases and received daily anonymous death threats
