AOC's Attack on Yang's Meaningless Israel Statement Shows Her Role: Protect Dem Leaders

greenwald.substack.com/p/aocs-attack-…
Real power over US policy toward Israel and Gaza rests with Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, Blinken - not Yang. But AOC's function is to shield them from leftist anger.

Pelosi's statement was the same as Yang's. Unlike him, her views matter. Can anyone imagine AOC attacking her?
The Biden State Department has been steadfastly supportive of the Israeli attacks. Biden is one of the most pro-Israel politicians in US life. Schumer, Blinken, Harris and Austin run US foreign policy. So AOC directs leftists' anger away from them to Yang: that's her function.
Unlike Pelosi or dozens of AOC's Dem comrades in the House and State Dept, Yang today issued a statement basically apologizing for his ignoring Palestinian suffering. Pelosi hasn't and won't. Ned Price never will. And they won't appear in an AOC tweet.

With her radical lifestyle branding, militant poses, and slightly edgier rhetoric, AOC assuages the fears of millions of liberal-left Democrats that they have turned into their establishmentarian parents by endlessly cheering for Biden, Harris, Pelosi and Schumer. It's her role.
There's this rock-solid bipartisan consensus on Israel. The statements of Pelosi and Carolyn Maloney sound identical to Marco Rubio and Liz Cheney's. But Dems that control the WH, Exec Branch and Congress. *That* is where AOC could make an impact.

And as I note at the end of this article, I'm working on interviewing prominent MAGA supporters to understand how they can reconcile an "America First" ideology with sending billions every year to this foreign nation and intervening on its behalf:

This is how you criticize politicians who matter and wield power over US policy toward Israel. US policy toward Israel and Palestine rests with Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Antony Blinken. They're who are responsible:

The left/right paradigm has eroded on many issues over the past 5 years, but Israel/Gaza is one where those old divisions remain.

It's also an issue that shows how much bipartisan consensus there is on foreign policy & what a fraud the Biden Admin's "human rights" rhetoric is.

The Intercept is now actively targeting two journalists of color. They have two white male reporters here putting a target on their backs for the crime of reporting on Antifa riots. This is genuinely disgusting and dangerous. Press freedom groups should condemn this. Watch:
This is what so much "journalism" is now. They believe that the real menaces are individuals who have politics or ideology different than their liberal orthodoxies. So these reporters are now like criminals to them because they report for right-wing sites, thus this targeting.
This is on top of what The Intercept has @micahflee doing: trolling through private personal data for Gab users to dox them, as @mtaibbi reported. Do you see who their targets are? Private citizens with the wrong ideology. That's FBI work, not journalism.

The Brazilian Senate is conducting a formal investigation into the COVID response from the federal and state governments. A Pfizer executive this morning testified they offered vaccines to the federal government in August of last year, and they were ignored.
All across Brazil, the vaccine is still unavailable to anyone under 50 with a few exceptions based on profession. An average of 2,000 people or more continue to die daily: of a disease for which an effective vaccine exists but the population can't get.
Meanwhile, Brazil's most reputable polling firm shows Bolsonaro with his lowest approval rating yet: 24%, with 45% disapproving.

In the first round of voting, Lula would get 41%, Bolsonaro 23%, and a mix of center-left/right candidates 24%. In a run-off, Lula wins 55-32. Image

CDC guidance says masks are unnecessary for fully vaccinated people indoors when they're with other fully vaccinated people. Yet here's @VP Harris - like Biden - contravening that guidance by releasing a photo of herself using a mask *for a Zoom call* in her own office.
The US Govt says the primary impediment to a return to normalcy is the unwillingness of more people to get vaccinated. Yet they keep doing everything possible to send the signal that post-vaccinated life is grim and changes little. Follow The Science.

No criticizing or questioning the behavior of the Vice President because she's just a little lady who shouldn't be subject to critical scrutiny, says this Chivalrous Good Male Liberal Ally (that Harris' aides aren't vaccinated is too stupid for words)

It's absolutely bizarre how much media/liberal resistance there is to the possibility of a COVID lab leak. Both the US & China do offensive and defensive research on viruses and biological weapons. It's important for prevention to know if this was zoonotic or an inadvertent leak.
Remember that the claim of *The US Government* is that the 2001 anthrax attacks -- though reported by unknown people & ABC News at the time to have been the work of Saddam -- came from a US Army lab at Fort Detrick, released by a US scientist.

washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content…
That whole anthrax episode has been remarkably memory-holed given that huge numbers of mainstream sources expressed serious doubts about the FBI's claim of where the anthrax came from. But what is clear is that the US & China do this kind of research:

The Biden Admin is in federal court to battle a request by an Afghan citizen to be released from Guantanamo, where has been held *14 years* with no charges. His argument: the US isn't even at war any more with the Afghan self-defense militia he joined:

nytimes.com/2021/05/10/us/…
The Biden DOJ is in court insisting that he remain in a due-process-free cage -- citing their ongoing war with Al Qaeda, to which he never belonged -- even while they lie to their gullible liberal followers that they want to close Guantanamo: same as the Obama DOJ did in 2009.
This guy isn't a "terrorist." He is an Afghan who defended his country against invasion & occupation by foreign armies: something every American claims they would do, too.

Let me ask, about this & Israel: how many years would you wait to fight against a foreign occupying army?

I wonder how many GOP voters outside the Green Rooms of CNN/MSNBC even know Liz Cheney is in Congress much less give the slightest shit whether she's there or not.
Reminds me of that time in 2015 when The Washington Post's beloved-in-DC political reporter Dan Balz decreed that attacking John McCain was a bridge too far for GOP voters and that voter anger over that may finally cause Trump's collapse in the polls.😂
All the people who care about Liz Cheney are either already in the Lincoln Project protecting predators so they don't interrupt their liberal money stream or have CNN and MSNBC contracts. Maybe there are like 5 old Bush Family friends in Texas who also care: maybe.
