Nigerians, by and large, are a flag waving bunch. We celebrate our nation, even as we acknowledge what bad leadership and corruption have bedeviled the country. Our embrace of patriotism also makes it a potent weapon.
However coming under attack by @beegeaglesblog , for being "hyper patriotic", calling this page a propaganda handle.Tweeting Nnamdi Kalu's IPOB propaganda, leaves me with no choice than to come to the defence of patriotism rather than trade words with you.
As far as im concerned patriotism, not hate, not jealousy, not envy is the best antidote to Nigeria's growing divisiveness. As a defence blogger one would think you of all people will be happy peoples disposition towards the military is begining to change.
A patriot is one who keeps their country's flag flying high and showing respect. Love and dedication towards a country is an integral part of our growth. Patriotism embodies sacrifice for the country to protect its honor. You dont have to be a stupid or blind
..patriot. That will be nationalism. But real patriotism embodies sacrifice for the country to protect its honor. It means identifying and understanding the ideals that the nation recognizes. Without which no nation can survive. Our soldiers in the trenches today
..are patriots. Patriotism is a concept which brings people together. A sense of solidarity and love for our country is a sentiment which binds. It is a shared feeling and common goal to do what's best for Nigeria as a whole and be supportive throughout this quest.
..that doesn't make one a propagandists like some clearly embittered and weak individuals are espousing. I call them weak because that is what they are. They are ready to trade their integrity for a quick buck. Some buckle under pressure and go rogue
..some, like @beegeaglesblog succumb to insecurity which morphs into jealousy and hatred. A Patriotic spirit is one of fortitude and strength. The views i had five years ago are the same views i have today. Neither am i scarred of going against the grain.
In the age of Maskirovska and geopolitical conspiracy, patriotism is an indispensable weapon in the defense of the nation against enemies of the state. The only reason this nation remains standing today is because there are still patriots numerous enough to hold the forte.
Once again im not espousing blind patriotism or cult worship. As Charlse Gaulle:
Patriotism is when love of your own people comes first. Nationalism, when hate for people other than your own comes first.
Now, i dont recall the government pointing a gun on peoples head forcing them to recite the national anthem. I see no reason why people should have problems with people who profess a love for country.
Are you tired of DIVISIVENESS and POLARIZATION? If you are then this is the place to be. A polarized nation is easy to pick apart. Patriotism is the one weapon that cannot be defended against. As for @beegeaglesblog , the path of hate and dark jealousy will take you no where.

In the last three decades France has carried out military interventions in Benin, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Gabon, Madagascar, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo, and Zaire.
France has also been at loggerheads with its allies. The French by nature have an outsized ego. They resented the fact the United States was forced to clean out Europes mess twice in 2 world wars. They presence of U.S troops in Normand hurt their pride.
Resentments grew during the Suez Canal crises. They once pulled out of NATO. During our civil war French covert support on the side of the separatists drew the ire of London, who didnt take lightly French desire to breakup the biggest Anglophone state in Africa.
