It's that time again where we huddle close to the TV and find out what horrors lay behind the titles. Today's #Kissmatewatches will be the FINAL installment of the Chucky franchise, Cult of Chucky dir by Don Mancini.

#Kissmatewatches "Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane, Nica Pierce is wrongly convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family."

So it's a direct sequel from the last terrible movie. Good to know.

#Kissmatewatches Again, I'm going in blind. Since it was the same director as the last two, my hopes are not high.
Either way, let's get this experience behind us.

#Kissmatewatches Our film starts out with talk of 2nd Amendment over wine. The woman seems to want strict gun laws while the man wouldn't mind stricter laws, but it seems the woman has him pegged a fanatic either way (because he has more than one).

#Kissmatewatches The man is Andy Barkley, all grown up! The woman googled his name and said that she couldn't handle the relationship anymore. Andy is genuinely bummed about it, but takes the rejection well.

#Kissmatewatches What's baffling is how the woman has "never met anyone who owned a gun". In America? I feel that she's either been sheltered her whole life, or she never knew that someone she knew had a gun. It's just odd.
(Not saying everyone has a gun, just the odds are high.)

#Kissmatewatches Andy drives back to his hunting cabin and decides to drink his night away. It is a NICE house! He's doing GREAT for himself! Lots of guns in a lighted case. Oh, his Kent Military shirt is framed and hiding a safe! How coo- OH NO THAT'S A GAGGED CHUCKY HEAD.

#Kissmatewatches So Andy just HAS a Chucky doll head in his safe. He talks to it and gives it a joint. The terrifying part is that it talks BACK and SCREAMS when set on fire! It's fucking Chucky! And Andy tortures him!
Oh that sweet poor boy... grown into a Red State Voter.

#Kissmatewatches After some credits, our focus is now on Nica, going through her own tortures in the asylum. She gets taken to a medium security asylum so she gets more privacy. A male nurse, Carlos, is nice to her because she reminds him of his husband. (PLEASE Don't die!)

#Kissmatewatches Nica meets a guy named Michael who gets real friendly with her. And her pelvis. Mutually!
It's nice to see wheelchair users get quickies in the staircase too.

#Kissmatewatches In group therapy, we get a call back to Bride of Chucky.
"She's the only multiple murderer here."
"Mass murderer, actually. There's a difference."

#Kissmatewatches This therapist is BAD!
He gets a Good Guy doll named Chucky and brings it to group therapy! Everyone reacts different, but the most baffling is Rando Patient Madeline's. She claims the doll is her baby. She's allowed to take it with her and try to feed it. WHAT.

#Kissmatewatches This is a prison's psych ward! There are rules made to keep patients and staff secure (both as a hospital and as a prison) and they are being shattered! What is this therapist doing and allowing? WHY? I have SO MANY QUESTIONS!

#Kissmatewatches Quick Character Diagnosis [Warning for Bad Psych From Movie}
-Madeline's baby died and she can't handle that.
-Michael, or rather Malcom, has Hollywood Brand Multiple Personality Disorder.
-Claire is some flavor of pyro.
-Angela is Not A Part Of Our Reality.

#Kissmatewatches Nica has a visitor! Her first one!
And it's a woman she's never seen before. BUT WE HAVE! HI, TIFF!!!! She's Alice's legal guardian. And Alice is dead. From a "broken heart". And Tiff brings the Chucky doll and gives it to Nica! "Alice wanted you to have this."

#Kissmatewatches Nica tosses the doll aside and wheels away to mourn. The doctor takes the doll away to his office, but not before we see Madeline holding her own in the same hallway.
After he's set down and alone, Chucky goes to work.

#Kissmatewatches He runs into Angela. She does her ghost spiel at him. And she admits to being schizophrenic! Chucky hates being told he's "not real" so tells her that she's next, but first is Nica!
It's was kind of... humorous? Interesting? IDK.

#Kissmatewatches [CW self harm]
Chucky goes to kill Nica, but finds that she used a piece of wheelchair wire to slash open her arm veins.
Nica wakes with her arm sewn with black stitching and a note in the puddle of her blood. "NOT SO FAST"
Nica is very freaked.

#Kissmatewatches She covers the note with her pillow and tells the nurse she wants privacy. I guess she's afraid they'll say she made it up?

#Kissmatewatches The rest of Nica's morning is interrupted as alarms blare. Angela, the old woman with schizophrenia seemingly hurt herself on purpose and bled out. Written in the blood is a note: "CHUCKY DID IT". Oh, Chucky's going for the long game. This MIGHT be fun.

#Kissmatewatches We're shown Andy hurting the Chucky doll head in front of others to attempt to clear his AND Nica's names! No one believes him, but he tried, damn it!
Chucky asks him if he really is crazy, but Andy just tells him to shut it.

#Kissmatewatches Back in group therapy, Claire denies that Angela hurt herself and blames it on Nica. Malcom is convinced it's Chucky.
Madeline walks in late with her "baby" and sees the second Chucky.
"What an ugly doll."

#Kissmatewatches Nica demands what the therapist has been saying: "It's just a doll."
The therapist burns the hand of the doll until it melts, but Nica isn't convinced. "Now the other one." Madeline rushes out protectively to save her "baby".

#Kissmatewatches I'm just going to take a moment and explain Malcom.
He thinks he IS a celebrity and knows the celebrity. Like Michael Phelps and Mark Zuckerburg.
This isn't how plural systems usually work? Again, he has Hollywood Brand "Multiple Personality Disorder".

#Kissmatewatches I know it's not called Multi Personality Disorder, I think it's DiD now. It doesn't change the fact that, how ever old MY book on the subject is, Hollywood's book is FAR MORE outdated.

#Kissmatewatches Claire steals the doll to throw it away, but Chucky bites her. When the doctor finds her, Claire tells him that the doll is alive, but he doesn't believe her and has her taken away by an orderly. (He thinks Claire bit herself?)

#Kissmatewatches Mardoll brings up an idea: Doctor Foley might be in on all this. Andy showed him the doll head that can be tortured to talk. Foley wants to show the doll to everyone and prove that it's JUST A DOLL. He let Tiff give Nica the real Chucky. I wonder we know Foley...

#Kissmatewatches We see Madeline holding the doll next to Angela's open grave. The doll flips Nica off before he's thrown into the grave by Madeline. Malcom strolls up and seems to ask what's going on.
I'm asking why there's TWO Chuckys!

#Kissmatewatches Madeline shoves Malcom into the grave. Claire screams and thrashes as she's sedated. She's left alone while she's restrained (NOT A GOOD HOSPITAL) while they get Malcom out of the grave. Malcom looks up at Nica with a not-good smile. Did we play Hide The Soul?

#Kissmatewatches Back in the hospital, we see the burned Chucky ask about the compressed oxygen before he sets it off like a rocket through the skylight and Claire gets decapitated by the falling glass.
So now Nica has no one on her side. Fuck.

#Kissmatewatches Nica tells Dr. Foley that Chucky is real, but the doctor isn't having that. He hypnotizes her and instead of digging OUT the truth in her head, he buries his OWN truth in her head. He tells her that she killed both Angela and Claire. She agrees.

#Kissmatewatches [CW: Sexual Assault]
We see Dr. Foley kiss Nica OUT OF NOWHERE and says how he's missed these little sessions. He asks if she misses them, but she doesn't because she never remembers them.
I am so disturbed. And grossed out. And I hate Foley SO MUCH.

#Kissmatewatches Chucky beats Foley over the head with a bottle of alcohol.
"And they call me sick! This guy is diabolical!"
At least Chucky understands that this is fucked up.

#Kissmatewatches Chucky hands her some sharp glass. "Come on, Nica. You know you want to. Join the club!"
Nica, still hypnotized, looks at Doctor Foley.
Fade to Black

#Kissmatewatches Fade in!
Nica has nonsense bad dreams.
Later, Malcom is doing a wonderful impression of Chucky. We then see Foley in the hallway, just fine! Except he goes on about how Nica assaulted him and the rage fuels my fists through his face.

#Kissmatewatches Tiff calls up Andy. This is going to be different...
She taunts at him and he says that he's coming for the both of them. It's a boring back and forth, actually.

#Kissmatewatches [CW: mentions of child murder]
Madeline lays Chucky down for a nap, but it's made longer with a pillow smothering.
Turns out this is what she did to her actual son. The doctor was hoping this would be a breakthrough for her. It was, because the medicine sucks.

#Kissmatewatches They bury the Chucky doll as a sign of closure for all of them.
That night, Andy walks up to the gate and asks to talk to Nica or Dr Foley. When he's denied due to visitor hours being closed, he punches the rent-a-cop in the face and gets put in a holding cell.

#Kissmatewatches They haven't done a lot with Andy, but I can't wait to see what they will do with him.
They've been waving this carrot in front of our face, so this had better be good!
Mardoll asks I tell you that he LOVES Andy so far and how brave he is try to save Nica.

#Kissmatewatches Nica sees the buried Chucky unearth itself, but another Chucky doll tranqs her and she passes out.
Doctor Foley gets a package of another Good Guy doll, but this is the one that Andy had in his gun case. It's clean, pristine, and has short sporty hair.

#Kissmatewatches Madeline mourns for her "baby", but the Chucky doll is right there when the nurse leaves. Madeline hugs her "baby" one last time. Then he kills her brutally. The same nurse quits when she finds the body.

#Kissmatewatches Doctor Foley finds Nica in a straightjacket in is office. She says Chucky put her there. He then tells her that he's fallen for her and gives her red high heels and it's a shame that she has to go back to Lochmoor because he could have-
Glass Bottle to the Brain!

Chucky, about Foley: "I just... can't with this guy! I don't know whether to kill him or just take notes!"

Oh, my sweet murderous asshole, please, just kill some more. Your laugh is more infectious than you realize.

#Kissmatewatches Chucky tries to convince Nica to kill Foley, but she refuses. We see another awakened doll enter the room (grave), and they awaken the clean cut one from Andy. Now there's three dolls!
And Carlos, the mlm nurse is getting killed. Good night, sweet queer man.

#Kissmatewatches Clean Cut goes to kill Andy, Grave Baby keeps watch to make sure nobody comes in, and Melted Fist stays to keep talking to Nica.
Oh and Tiff killed a Rent-A-Cop and talked about cherry snow cones while licking the blood off. And we see the Tiff doll for a second.

#Kissmatewatches Melted Fist pulls out a spell for ALL the power. He possesses Nica's body and kills Foray in a very gruesome manner with those red heels. Oh, did I mention that while Nica is possessed, she is no longer paralyzed? Because Melted walks around in her body.

#Kissmatewatches Then Melted heads to Malcom, who swears he's Charles.
Mal: "I'm Charles!"
Nica/Melted: "In your dreams. I'm Charles, but everybody calls me Chucky."
Mal: "No, they don't."
I'm sorry, What?

#Kissmatewatches Malcom was... never possessed? He just killed a nurse for fun? WHAT?
Oh, and he claims he made up all those personalities because he wanted to be somebody.
That's not how that works? At all? Like... whatever "movie medicine is bad", you know the drill- OH MY GOD

#Kissmatewatches A LITERAL drill comes out of nowhere and Grave Baby kills Malcom via drill to the skull.
For those with eye trauma problems, this tweet is your only warning. I didn't even get one. *shudder*

#Kissmatewatches FINALLY! Andy is visited by the short haired one! We only have 10 minutes left with him!
He kills the doll by disembowling him and taking out the gun he left inside the doll. Remember, this is the one he sent.

#Kissmatewatches One detail is how the dolls' humanity works. I remember bleeding would start after day one, and organs would be after 3 days. Here? There's no consistency.
Clean Cut is alive for 5 min. Full gore bag.
Grave Baby is alive for days, but arm is still full doll.

#Kissmatewatches Anyway! Andy, now packing heat, raises his gun at the new intruder to see Nica, standing. She says she's actually Chucky (Melted Fist). He's out of bullets, though, and Melted leaves him in a locked room.

#Kissmatewatches Nica walks away to meet Tiff outside. They have some back and forth with Tiff mentioning Alice at the end.
Nica/Melt: "Nah. Fuck that kid!"
Nica laughs. Tiff nervously laughs. The Tiff doll laughs.

The End.

#Kissmatewatches So Andy did... fuck all in this movie. You could have taken him out completely and gotten the same result.
Even if it was supposed to be closure for Andy or Chucky's story, there was none! Andy isn't dead! He's just locked away! That's closure?!

#Kissmatewatches Multiple Chuckys is a neat idea, but I don't think it was done well. The only time it was utilized was at the end, and at that point ONE Chucky was more than enough!
Also, they're just little loose ends who need tying up. There is a killer doll just OUT THERE!

#Kissmatewatches You know what? These two movies piss me off because of the endings. The endings are about Chucky WINNING. The other ones, EVEN SEED GOT RIGHT, is that Chucky is supposed to LOSE.

#Kissmatewatches Chucky is not a hero. He's the lion in the gladiator pit that we throw fighters at. He's the final boss that we grinded out EXP to defeat. He's the dragon that the knight must slay to protect the proverbial kingdom! If Chucky Wins, We Lose! THAT'S A PROBLEM.

#Kissmatewatches The last two movies had more "queer rep" but I say that through gritted teeth. The two wlw couples were clearly only for men to enjoy, and the ONE mlm rep we see gets the most gruesome death (Multi Chucky Murder). They all celebrate how horrible his death was!

#Kissmatewatches Nica was done so fucking horrible. Before I complete that, I will give the actress this. She looks SO MUCH like her father! I was seeing Charles Lee Ray in that car!

#Kissmatewatches Nica, as a disabled character, could not BE disabled to the writers! It all had to tie in to be Chucky's fault that she was disabled in the first place.
THEN it was Chucky who gave her legs back to her BUT ONLY IF SHE'S POSSESSED. So no, she doesn't get legs.

#Kissmatewatches In the last movie, she had multiple wheelchairs in the house with one clearly being her good expensive one. That was good!
In this movie? We're back to the shitty "push around" wheelchair and no others. I get she's in prison, but she wouldn't get her nice one?

#Kissmatewatches [CW sexual assault]
Foley was a BAD doctor for so many reasons, but the worst one was sexual assault on his patients.
And the way it was thrown at us with NO warning! He gave us red flags AFTER that scene, but before then Foley was actually pretty respectful!

Oh, and for Nica to walk again, because of her mother's abuser and killer, in shoes her assaulter placed onto her feet himself? There's a HUGE symbolic mess I don't want to touch. But it's there. Play with it if YOU want.

#Kissmatewatches I hate this movie. It was a bad end to a decent franchise.

Cult: 2/10, use the money and time to make a child or pet smile.
Franchise: Watch Child's Play 1, 2, 3, and Bride of Chucky. It's a good quartet right there. Don't need no more.
