Podcasts are the ultimate form of content.

With one podcast episode, you can create at least 11 other types of content!

Here's howโ€”with examples: ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡

Instead of recording podcasts privately via Zoom or Riverside, Iโ€™ve started doing it live on YouTube using Streamyard.

Great way to get more engagement from your audience.
Hereโ€™s a live podcast recording I did with @SeanEllis, @EthanMGarr, and @Wes_Bush for the @ProductLed Podcast.

If you record video, you can grab the most interesting bits and create a 1-2 minute video snippet for social media.

Hereโ€™s an example from @bzaidi for the Creator Lab podcast with @theSamPar

A few things about video snippets for social:

> Make sure itโ€™s square (at least 1080x1080). Takes up more space on someone's feed.

> Add subtitles. Optimize for audio off.

> Keep it short. Twitter has a video limit of 2 min and 20 seconds. IG feed has a 60-second limit.

Slightly similar to creating a video snippet for social feeds, you can create a vertical video (1080x1920) for stories.

Example: @seancannell does this for the Think Marketing Show.

instagram.com/tv/CMm7gConcRCโ€ฆ

You could upload a longer video snippet thatโ€™s 5 to 10 minutes for YouTube.

My favorite example is the @h3h3productions podcast.

Hereโ€™s a 6-minute video snippet of their interview with @MrBeast.

Keys to success for YouTube:

> Upload a video that's at least 1080p. @riversidedotfm or @streamyardapp can do this. Do not use Zoom because the video quality is often not good enough

> Create an eye-catching video thumbnail.

> Edit out the slow and boring stuff.

If you donโ€™t record a video or donโ€™t want to use it to promote the episode, you can create an audiogram.

Hereโ€™s an example with @kdlafrance and @bandholz from @beardbrand for @Shopifyโ€™s Resilient Retail Podcast

Here are tools you can use to easily create these audiograms:

> @headlinervideo
> @DescriptApp
> @wavve

You can also create an image with the best quotes from the episode.

For example, @SaraDietschy created this quote image for the @thatcrtvlife podcast episode with @SimonHuck.

Some tools you can use to create quote images in less than 5 minutes:
> @canva
> @SnappaHQ
> @vismeapp

Pull out the best insights & create a tweetstorm.

@amandanat did this for the Growth Machine Marketing podcast.

She shared 5 things that she learned from her conversation with @Kammie_Jenkins, Content Lead at @Shopify.

Reddit threads are slightly different than Twitter threads.

You have to first findrelevant subreddits and see how the most popular posts are structured.
For example, @sweatystartup created a long-form post in the r/Entrepreneur subreddit educating people on how he made $10k in one weekend as a college student.

reddit.com/r/Entrepreneurโ€ฆ

You can repurpose a podcast episode into a long-form article with all the actionable tips.

Format it so that it's readable. Add images of frameworks and quotes from the episode.
Take a look at @Intercomโ€™s Inside Podcast article with @HubSpotโ€™s @bhalligan.

It's actionable and well-written.

I love the illustrations, quote images, and detailed breakdown of how coining a category disrupted an industry.

You can use the talking points in a podcast episode for your newsletter.

@searchbrat does this for his show Growth TL;DR

You can subscribe to his newsletter here to see it for yourself: kieranflanagan.io/newsletter

Thatโ€™s exactly what @davegerhardt did for @Privyโ€™s The Ecommerce Marketing Podcast.

They put 17 episodes and published them into The Ecommerce Marketing Handbook that you can buy for $10

shop.privy.com
This is also what @guyraz did for @NPRโ€™s @HowIBuiltThis podcast.

They put together their best interviews and created a @wsj bestselling book โ€œHow I Built Thisโ€

shop.npr.org/products/how-iโ€ฆ
BONUS: You can create a "cheatsheet" with all the actionable tips from an episode.

It's a great way to build an email list.

For every episode for the @hustleflowchart podcast, @joefier and @mattrwolfe create a downloadable cheat sheet.

As a marketer, having a side project is one of the best ways to learn new skills.

Side projects are yours, which means youโ€™re more incentivized to learn well.

Here are five marketing skills I learned through side projects. ๐Ÿงต

In 2013, I put up my blog on ramlijohn.com and wrote an article each week for almost three years.

I don't write there as much as now.
I was blogging a lot about Lean Startup back then.

One of my articles got noticed by the organizers of the Lean Startup Conference.

That resulted in being invited to San Francisco to give a talk in front of 6k people!

I'm trying out a Twitter experiment:

Live on Twitter Spaces every Friday for 4 weeks: The #MarketingRant show

The goal: I get a marketer to rant about a topic theyโ€™re passionate about.
The first one is tomorrow (Friday) at 1 pm EDT with @amandanat. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Amanda is going on a #MarketingRant about common writing mistakes marketers make.

Amanda has a journalism background and is currently the Head of Content at @ShipBob.
Why Twitter Spaces?

Simpleโ€”Iโ€™ve already built an audience here. So has the marketers Iโ€™ll be talking to.

This is another way to build and connect with our audience.

I wrote a whole thread about it below:

9 years ago, I transitioned to marketing from software engineering.

Since I was diving into marketing on my own, I didn't know where to start.

Now that I do know, here are the 3 marketing skills I wish I picked up first: ๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
1/ Customer Research

Marketing is about understanding people.

Itโ€™s that simple. And that hard.

One of the best ways to get to know your customers is by interviewing them.

As an introvert, the thought of that made my hands sweat, knees weak, arms heavy

So I avoided it for far too long.

An Instagram account for a dog, sure. But a LinkedIn profile for a dog?!?! I am dead! I requested to connect. ๐Ÿ˜‚
OH MY GOODNESS... Millie the dog accepted. What should I message her?
