BREAKING: An attempt initiated by Republicans to send the $1.9B Capitol security emergency spending bill back to committee has failed, 209-208 after an hour long procedural vote. Now, lawmakers begin voting on final passage of the bill.
@CourthouseNews
There was also hesitancy today to pass the final bill by progressive members in the House who questioned whether certain officers might have been complicit in 1/6 attack. It now looks, however, that the bill will pass after some negotiating. More soon.
Reps Jamal Bowman and Rashida Tlaib voted present for today's vote approving $1.9B in Capitol Security funding. Ilhan Omar voting no.
Vote breakdown:
WASHINGTON (CN) — The House of Representatives voted 213-212 to approve $1.9 billion in emergency funding for US Capitol security, months after rioters stormed the building, erected gallows on its lawn and engaged in deadly clashes with police.

Here's a copy of the legislation vesting $1.9B for Cap security that is being voted on today. But of course, if you don't want to read it through, I'll break it down for you later today for @CourthouseNews.

And how did lawmakers get to $1.9B? On recommendations issued by Russel Honore in the 1/6 Task Force review that was published in March.
Copy of that available here: documentcloud.org/documents/2078…

.@PressSec Psaki on Biden admin position on Israel/Palestine: Every single action we take is with the objective to end violence on ground.

And some convos between leaders right now will not be things she discusses at the podium
Why not call for a ceasefire?

Psaki says right now they are focused on deescalating on the ground and having these convos behind the scenes is the "most constructive approach." "Quiet, intensive diplomacy" is how WH is currently describing its approach w. Israel/Palestine
Over 60 calls in last week with a range of partners in the region, Psaki says of Biden.

A two state solution is the only way to bring an end to the violence, Psaki says.

Biden this afternoon: Cases are down in 49 of 50 states. Hospitalizations lowest since April 2020. Deaths are down 80% and lowest level since April 2020.
People thought 2021 would be a lost year as 2020 was, but we have proved doubters wrong, Biden says.
He carries a card in his pocket that notes lives lost to Covid at end of each business day.
So many empty chairs, he says, clutching the note. Then, "You will get through this"
Biden: Some may feel more comfortable wearing a mask, so if you see them wearing a mask, just be respectful. Too much divisiveness over this, he adds.

If you dont want to take it off and youre fully vaxxed, perfectly fine to do that.
If you are unvaxxed, wear your mask.

POTUS also warned against this yesterday.

Do we all really not remember how the mad dash to stock up on TP at the beginning of the pandemic played out?
FWIW: Colonial reported yesterday they expect to be fully back online by Friday.
