This is a complete white wash.

cbc.ca/news/canada/ed…

I have a physician of Nigerian descent. He’s the best doctor I’ve ever had in my life. And I’ve had quite a few.
I can’t imagine my physician having to face this kind of BS from a colleague and then a complete minimization of the incident by AHS and the hospital administrators.

How insulting.
Another racially motivated incident white washed as “a joke.” Every racially insensitive action seems to be a joke.

And investigating authorities permit that lame excuse to cover up racist behaviour. It’s so stereotypical it’s ridiculous.

How many times can it be just a joke?
It’s not funny and it’s not an attempt at humour.

There is zero possibility that taping a noose to an operating door is an act of team building or humour.

When are investigators going to say that excuse is incomprehensible to the situation and unacceptable? Try again.
I’ve been on the receiving end of reports. I’ve seen how evidence found never makes it into a written report that is made public. And I know how evidence is controlled.

The person or people who commission the report control the final product control it’s contents.
So who commissioned the report? The Health Minister, Mr. Shandro.

UCP MLA, the guy who stood in a driveway to admonish an AHS physician of colour in front of his family.
Does anyone honestly believe the Health Minister in a government of far right wing ideologues, who assert every chance they get that systemic racism doesn’t exist, is going to permit a report that confirms systemic racism does indeed exist and is blatant?
Does anyone believe the govt who permitted BLM protesters to be beat and harassed several times last summer, often with no condemnation of the violence, while simultaneously giving anti mask protesters permission to commit violent acts laced with racist overtones & paraphernalia?
Of course there is no racism found in a clearly racist incident when the people commissioning the investigation are also actively suppressing knowledge of systemic racism in Alberta in the new curriculum offered.
Anyone who can see the noose knows it’s a noose.

Not just any random rope knot. Noose symbolism is abundantly clear and frequent in recent years.
A random knot isn’t anything like a noose knot.

And the average physician doesn’t learn how to tie noose knots. Even if they are a sea faring amateur sailor.
Surgeon knots are not noose knots. Surgeons do learn how to tie knots. But not nooses.
You’ve got to look up how to tie a noose. To get a recognizable noose, you need instructions or prior knowledge. While it’s not a difficult skill, it requires knowledge of the procedure.
And you’d have to live under a rock if you don’t know the symbolism of a noose in 2016 in Alberta when effigies of Notley and Trudeau were a common feature.
It doesn’t matter where you live in Alberta. Urban, rural, small city. The symbolism is abundant in Alberta.
There are no grounds to stand on to deny systemic racism in Alberta.
So there is no way this report is accurate or reflective of truth.

This is how systemic racism works. When investigators or the people who hire them are complicit in systemic racism, you get BS reports white washing systemic racism. And efforts to deny the existence of racism.
And there are abundant examples to choose from in Grande Prairie.
When will it be unacceptable for a government to provide cover and tacit approval to white professionals who use racial intimidation with symbols of hatred and implicit threat?
Former slave states in the US continue to propagate systemic racism after well over 150 years.

But we’re supposed to believe someone who was raised in apartheid South Africa, which remained overtly racist until the mid 1990’s, and is still coping with racism, is just joking.
I’m sick of being gaslit. I’m tired of being treated like a fool.

It’s was racism.

The issue is a government who covers up a racist incident. And what that means for BIPOC’s safety and security of person in Alberta.

I can’t let this go unchallenged. An emotional reaction to personal insult should not overrule critical thinking skills.

But it does and it is being used to elicit an expected response from those whose sensibilities and identity is being insulted.

As a mother of a child on the spectrum, I can’t let this go unchallenged.

There is ample evidence that those with emotional vulnerabilities are more susceptible to SM propaganda.

That includes autism and ASD.

I for one would appreciate if the “shaman’s” defence lawyer was able to prove a targeted campaign to manipulate his thinking was the cause of his apparent break with reality.

It would create widespread public acknowledgement of how the far right is using military grade PSYOPS.

The problem with Ms Krause’s statement is that we learned a backlog of bitumen that Canadian developers create produces humongous profits for American refinery owners.
When Rachel Notley put a temporary limit on oil sands production, the price of oil jumped immediately.

By maintaining current production levels, and a bottlenecked transport system, US producers can manipulate the price they pay for Canadian product, & thus, the royalty rates.
After its refined, oil sands is sold at the same price as Brent Oil standard price back to Canadians and across the globe.

Resulting in astronomical profits for American upstream owners and shareholders.

At the expense of Albertans and the expense of Canadian fuel consumers.

Thanks for writing this thread @MgS_2011

People who continue to be unconcerned about the danger UCP poses have privilege to ignore the existential threat being made.
Those who are still fighting for social equality, use of their political agency, acceptance and political change to accommodate their needs don’t have the luxury of privilege.
The rights of the most marginalized are under threat while still being established. Existential threat.

Ignore that threat and you are giving conservatives tacit approval.

Excellent thread Norlaine! Deserves to be amplified and read far and wide!
The only thing I’d add is an explanation for how information is transferred from one person to another and how truth and veracity can be implied through manipulation to provide credibility.

It’s the use & manipulation of framing.
Explained here in a short clip by George Lakoff:

This link will lead to the longer in-depth review Lakoff delivered as a lecture several years ago. This is part 1 of a 6 part series.

Another option is to read his book.

The question remains...

Why are parents obeying the commands of a lunatic proto fascist operative (La Grange) who is hell bent on infecting kids and their parents with covid?

The first rule in Timothy Snyder’s On Tyranny: Don’t obey in advance.
The next rule is Defend Institutions.

Parents need to defend Public Education.

Teachers, Administrators and custodians are human beings. Sending your kids to school is putting the lives of those people at risk & beneath your need to work and make a living.
If you want great teachers, maybe putting their lives at risk isn’t the best strategy.

This is an interesting thread that I’m going to use to illustrate current affairs in Israel.

The farther left are struggling with whom to support during this Palestinian Israeli conflict. They’re struggling with cognitive dissonance.
Characteristic of the further left is the desire to view the world through binary thinking. Good or bad, right or wrong, just or unjust.

Nuance and grey areas are forbidden. So a fissure has emerged between those who support Palestine and those who defend Israel.
It’s a curiosity to witness those who attempt to impose simplicity onto a complex and complicated situation. You can almost feel the angst this is causing within the progressive camp.

Support Jews who have been persecuted for millennia or Palestinians, indigenous to the region?
