New: Being told this morning that Ken Bennett will no longer be handing media for Arizona election audit. Instead, Senators @FannKfann and @warrenpetersen, who have typically not been inside the coliseum and taking procedural questions. #azauditpool
...
This morning @KyungLahCNN and her team were given a phone number by the security lead we refer to as Cowboy Hat Andy because he won’t give us his name. Told that’s the new media number.
Yet in typical audit fashion when I called Ken Bennett about this...
Bennett answered his phone this morning and told me he had not heard about this new setup.
Then I called the number I was given and Randy Pullen, former AZ GOP chair who has been involved in the audit, answered. Pullen...
Pullen told me he was helping set up the voicemail on the account. He said he was helping facilitate media access.
I’m still sitting outside the coliseum and Pullen is working on figuring out if we can go in.
On not being let in: Editors had sent them the list of journalists that would be here today from 8 am - 4 pm.
Bennett told us yesterday we would be allowed in. This morning Pullen told me they didn’t have the amount of security needed to let us in.
Not sure how many trucks have unloaded. I’m counting 17/46 pallets but I’m bad at counting.
The ballot counting & inspection was set to resume tomorrow. Bennett had told us they were doubling the number of counters and inspectors and would attempt to be fully staffed tomorrow. Also might be a third late night shift.
44 counting tables & 32 inspection tables now set up.
A new truck is here and they are unloading pallets. When we got in at 9:15 a.m., one was being unloaded. It's unclear if they did any loads before we got in here.
Reporters, I put the "new media phone number" in our document along with a summary of this AM. #azauditpool
Remnants of graduation ceremonies, found here in the press box this AM.
There are ~3 birds in the coliseum this morning. I am very good at spotting birds because my daughter is obsessed with birds. 🦅 I am the right person for this job.
Other updates: It is very cold in here. @thawthornephoto is complaining more than I am even though he has pants on. 😝
Also: Cyber Ninjas attorney Bryan Boehm is not wearing a suit jacket for first time I’ve seen. It’s like seeing a teacher outside of school.
My phone autocorrected to Boehm instead of his correct name Blehm. Gonna blame you @jboehm_NEWS.
Most ballots are back in the coliseum at this point. They are unpacking computers and setting up ‘ballot inspection’ tables. (We still don’t know what exactly they are doing at those tables and why.)
I believe the ballots are all back in the coliseum now. That's what @KyungLahCNN was told. But looking at azaudit.org, there is still one truck sitting in other building.
Last truck left other building but did not come here. According to what @KyungLahCNN was told, it had the county's voting machines.
- We don't know where they are examining them.
- We don't know who all has access.
- No livestream. No media/observer access.
We’re being told by Cowboy Hat Andy that livestream shows room with voting machines. Maybe camera 1? azaudit.org
I had not seen that before today. Had anyone else?
Also, media has never been allowed in that room. SOS observers may have had limited access but not allowed there consistently. I’ve sent numerous questions to Cyber Ninjas about the voting machine examination. All unanswered.
Just got to my home away from home, which has now been described in national media as not just ‘decrepit’ but also ‘suburban’ ‘aging’ and a ‘basketball arena.’
I’ll tweet today as they move the ballots back in here from a storage building. Graduations are over. #azauditpool
Here’s the building that has stored the ballots and machines for the last nine days. Watch the inside of this building and the coliseum at a audit.org
The most important news today is that the CNN videographer just mistook me for a broadcast reporter. And to that I say
If you want to hear straight from Maricopa County officials their explanation for why the Senate's election audit contractors couldn't find those "deleted files" (which they have explained weren't deleted) ... listen here, starts at 1 pm maricopa.gov/324/Board-of-S…
Maricopa Supervisor Chairman Jack Sellers starts the meeting off with some words for the Arizona Senate.
Calls the audit "a grift disguised as an audit."
"It's time to be done with this craziness," he says.
Maricopa County Recorder @stephen_richer explains that the auditors' concerns amount to a misunderstanding of elections generally and misunderstanding of the county's processes.
- Ballots were all tracked properly
- 'Missing' files weren't deleted
❓What election files did the county delete
❓Did the auditors use a WiFi router
❓Will Dominion give admin access to its machines
❓Will supervisors meet with senators
I've stayed relatively quiet as various statements and claims have been made in the last 24 hours because I don't want to spread misinformation.
Hoping we get some more info with documents to back it up very soon.
The 2 main questions on my mind these days:
- Why did the SOS settle in court if so many questions remain
- Will the county supervisors provide info willingly or will this go back to another subpoena/court fight
