Why get concerned about lives of health care workers in India? #Valuable#HumanResource: India🇮🇳 needs all hands on deck. In 2017, @who reported India had 0.9 physicians per 1000 people, compared to 2.6 in USA + Canada, and 2.8 in UK. | bit.ly/347GERd

Thoughts and actions for global 🌐 action, as the pandemic will not end until we get this under control across the world.

Suggested actions:
✳️ Collect data, and investigate the cause of deaths of these HCWs
✳️ Any preventable issues such as access to PPE, or PPE training is fixable
✳️ Tele-mentoring and self-sustaining solutions possible @doctimcook@elboghdadly ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

✳️ Is it vaccine failure in the setting of Variants of Concern?
Vaccines still effective against severe infection, and hospitalization. More data is needed. Prioritization and access to vaccination for HCW should be a priority. @CentreInfection | bit.ly/34qiaCV

✳️ HCW at high-risk of COVID infection and mortality should be offered #shielding to mitigate risk, allocate resources effectively, and prevent loss of lives.
