1/ Govt advice to people in Bolton/ Bedford/ Kirklees is utterly chaotic - no clarity & expecting people to restrict what they do all because Government failed to put India on the red list in time. Ministers should apologise to local communities they have let down.
2/ Complete confusion on whether Government thinks people should travel/ not travel, go to pub/ not go to pub/ carry on with weddings or not.

3/ Govt delay in putting India on red list meant new variant cases arriving in UK rose steeply until new restrictions came in. Clear that earlier action would have helped (Chart h/t @chrischirp ) 
4/ PHE figures show around 460 different travellers to UK had new India variant.

5/ Ministers response that B.1.617.2 wasn’t listed as “variant of concern” til later isn’t good enough. Overall India cases were soaring, positive tests among India travellers shot up & India Govt had raised concern about possible new variants.
6/ Bangladesh & Pakistan were put on red list in early April. By 7 April positivity rate among India travellers was already at similar levels to neighbours & rising, yet Govt delayed India until 23 April. They left India til last minute & our communities are now paying the price
7/ Surge vaccines & testing for hotspots is vital - but why aren’t they surging them for all the neighbouring areas too.
And whatever the Govt advice now is, this confusion is going to hit local hospitality industry in these areas. So where is the extra support?

8/ We’re only a few months away from having the vaccine fully rolled out, and we really need all parts of country to be able to get back to normal. Which is why we need Govt not to keep making mistakes at the border & putting progress at risk at this late stage
