Starting a YouTube channel is the single best thing I've ever done in my life.

Here are my top 10 tips on how to get started on YouTube πŸ‘‡
πŸ™‰ 1. Don't worry about what other people will say - the number one fear people have is always the same: "I'm worried about what my friends and family will think." The truth is, everyone's too worried about their own lives to care what you’re doing.
πŸ“·2. Gear doesn't matter at the start - when I started my channel I filmed everything on my iPhone and only bought fancy gear when I decided to take YouTube more seriously. It's like when you're learning to write: it doesn't matter what pen you use as long as you write something.
πŸ”’ 3. Don't worry about the numbers - the only thing you really have to do is consistently produce videos. The average channel with 1-10k subscribers has made 152 videos, so before you've made 152 videos there's not too much point worrying about the analytics.
πŸ₯ž 4. Stack the deck in your favour - there are broadly 2 ways of doing this:

1. Time - the more time you put into your videos the better they'll be (like @jamesvjani).
2. Money - the more you invest in gear or hiring people, the better your content will be.
😎 5. Use your unfair advantages - there's a 3-part formula to success on YouTube: success = work x luck x unfair advantage

If you're thinking "I don't have an unfair advantage", check out my video on The Unfair Advantage by @StartupHasan + @Ash_Ali πŸ‘‰
✨ 6. Focus on quantity rather than quality - it's far more important when starting to make 100 rubbish videos than to try and make 10 great videos. By creating lots of content you're naturally going to improve the quality of your videos without even really thinking about them.
πŸ€Ήβ€β™€οΈ 7. Don't really worry about what your niche is - people get very hung up on this. My recommendation is to start making videos about whatever you enjoy (like your favourite pen or some close-up magic) and let your niche emerge over time.
πŸ”¨ 8. Be patient and be consistent - these are the only 2 things you really need to succeed on YouTube. You need the consistency to publish at least one video a week and the patience to realise that you're not going to get any traction for a while.
🧠 9. Try and think about it in terms of systems - you need to build systems that are going to help you put out 1-2 videos a week for 5+ years. This is something I teach on my PTYA live course. But check out The E-Myth Revisited by @MichaelEGerber if you want somewhere to start.
πŸ’ͺ 10. Just do it - if you're thinking of getting started on YouTube, just do it. Stop reading this thread, get out your phone, start speaking, and upload it using the YouTube app. It's really that simple.
🎬 There's honestly nothing else you need to know if you want to get started. You can watch my video on this if you want - - but I'd much rather you just close Twitter and start recording.

Last year, I read over 50 books. Here are my Top 15 recommendations from that list πŸ‘‡
πŸŽ₯ A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by @donaldmiller - really, really good book that made me cry (a lot) and also made me reconsider how I’m living my life. It’s about changing one’s story and embracing risk, change, and challenge.
πŸ’Œ How to Think More About Sex by @alaindebotton - very insightful book that, I honestly believe, should be read by everyone. On the surface it’s a book about sex but, in reality, it’s about things like human connection, intimacy, and authenticity.

Creating my personal website was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It ultimately led to my YouTube channel and making 7-figures online.

So, if you want to set up a personal website here’s a step-by-step guide (with little or no coding). πŸ‘‡
There are 6 main reasons why I think everyone should create their own personal website:

πŸ’‘ It helps you develop your own ideas. If you want to become a better writer, thinker, or communicator, creating your own personal website is likely the best way to achieve that.
πŸ‘” It can help you with your professional life. A personal website is a 21st-century version of a CV. Your potential employers will google your name and you can β€˜control’ that search result by having your own website.

One of my superpowers is having a ridiculously ⚑ fast typing speed (157 WPM). I believe everyone can get at least 2x more productive just by improving how fast they type.

Here are the 8 tips that I used to double my typing speed over the past 10 years πŸ‘‡
βœ‚οΈ Learn Keyboard Shortcuts - Absolute game-changer for fixing mistakes. If you have to hit backspace twice, there’s a problem. Instead, use either (1) Option/CTRL + Backspace to delete an entire word or (2) CMD + Backspace to delete an entire line.
⚑ Practice On @10FastFingers_ - 1 minute-long typing tests where all you have to do is type as many words in a minute as you can. Even semi-regular practice will help you ramp up your typing speed.

The 9 different "passive income" ideas I use to make $27k per week (the info I wish I had when I started my financial independence journey 8 years ago) πŸ‘‡
❌ Get rich quick schemes don't work - the only way to make passive money is to provide value in a way that's not directly tied to your time.
πŸ’° Investing in stocks & shares - interest from a savings account doesn't do much for us. My (non-financial) advice is to sign up to a stockbroker platform (e.g Vanguard) and invest in an index fund like the S&P 500. Earnings obv depend on stock performance and amount invested.

I've read pretty much every book on productivity and time management lol - here are my top time management tips that I genuinely use πŸ‘‡
πŸ•‘ We own all of our time - at any given moment we're doing what we most want to do. If we decide to play WoW or scroll twitter like a wasteman then we can't say "I don't have time to workout". We're all in control of our time and choose how to prioritise it.
πŸ‘ Hell yeah or no - It's okay to say no. If someone asks me to do something and I'm not like "hell yeah" then my default position is to say "nope, I'm not gonna do this". Thanks @sivers for this one.

Last night, I had a catch-up call with some YouTuber friends (@mattdavella, @tomfrankly, @joeyschweitz, @np1ndey, @nathanieldrew_). We chatted for around 2 hours. Some notes πŸ‘‡
Every YouTuber at every size worries about the algorithm. One of the biggest challenges of being a YouTuber is trying not to worry about the algorithm.
The highlight reel looks very different to the behind-the-scenes. The guys complimented me on my apparent disregard for the algorithm, and willingness to put out random content (eg: piano + singing) that had nothing to do with productivity.
