#Freenode meltdown update 4(?): Freenode is now giving operator status to openly bigoted trolls. This is not hyperbole. These logs are from THE PAST DAY. More in second post. (TW transphobia)
These are all very recent statements, right in the #freenode-policy-feedback. Anyone still on Freenode needs to seriously consider jumping ship as soon as is reasonable for them.
This isn't a one-off thing, as I've mentioned in my previous update tweets. I've seen a lot of outright bigotry, trolling, personal harassment, and so on, over the past few days, and literally none of it has been addressed by the staff. We're always ignored. Every time.
Note that this is in an official channel related to policy, with the network's owner present. Imagine how they're going to run an entire network with tens of thousands of channels and users.
I might be wrong, but I predict that this will all come crumbling down. Freenode has been running a 25+ year marathon with tens of thousands of users, and these guys can't even get their shoes tied without tripping.
current freenode staff status: lol dmt
(I don't have user modes visible here, but Eskimo is a channel operator/Freenode staff)
rest in pieces official policy feedback channel. But hey, #freenode is still open, by which I mean it's mode +q so nobody can hear you talk except the staff who ignore everyone
At this point, there are no official channels left where people can speak freely about what's going on. Literally zero.
I've been banned by some bot by sending a notice command to #freenode, so I guess I'll have to hop on their web chat or something. Or not, since without the ability to talk to anyone, there's really nothing more to report.
As someone else noted, #help is still fully open, but it doesn't matter because they're ignoring questions there as well.
This is what the new face of #freenode looks like, and bear in mind this was one of the MORE forthcoming and reasonable staff members I was dealing with during the takeover drama.
I wish I could say this guy is an outlier, and I promise I'm not cherry-picking here. In the course of several days, literally zero Freenode staff members expressed any concern whatsoever about the kinds of things I've been mentioning. Zero. Nil. Empty set.

(Thread) I've been tinkering with The Big Sleep, a tool for creating AI-generated images using text prompts, and decided to generate some based on things from the MMO @wurmonline, using in-game text descriptions where possible. First up, creatures! (continued)
Hell Hound (prompt: "The hell hound is said to be spies and assassins for the demons of Sol")
I love this one, especially what looks like a weird mish-mash of tendrils composing the head/face.
Lava Spider (prompts: "a giant spider made of lava" and "a giant spider full of lava")
Made these before I settled on using in-game descriptions. Only mostly reminiscent of spiders, fairly abstract, but also fairly creepy.
