I remember back when I had a LiveJournal all the creepy old Objectivist men surrounded me like vultures picking at an armadillo carcass by the side of a hot desert road (I was in my mid-20s) and they all had “suggestions” about what I should do with my appearance. They thought

that I should grow my hair long and dye it red. (They were all obsessed with redheads for whatever reason.) They thought I should wear more makeup, but not too much, of course. They said I had a nice body and should show it off by wearing more clingy knits. Their ideas were very

similar to one anothers’ for whatever reason (I always thought it was because they were modeling some sexual fantasy or another off Atlas Shrugged, a book they all wanted me to read.) They were a Type and they wanted to groom me into that Type as well. They all worked tech jobs

and I often joked back then that I could make a whole lot of money and get a ton of sensitive info if I styled myself the way they wanted.

Seems I wasn’t the only one who observed such things
