These days it’s pretty much impossible to quit your phone. We rely on so many apps in our day-to-day lives.

Here’s a full list of my favourite iPhone apps that I use pretty much every day 👇
📗 @audible_com - one of the best $7.95/month that I spend on anything. Whenever I’m driving the car, cleaning the house, or getting ready for bed, I listen to audiobooks on 2x speed. Very easy way to use time more productively and make each of these activities more enjoyable.
🎤 @JoinClubhouse - if I’m bringing my phone to bed with me I usually end up talking to my US friends and YouTubers over on Clubhouse. Sort-of like Discord audio rooms with conversations on all sorts of topics. Follow me @AliAbdaal.
📸 @instagram - when I want to be a total #wastemen I open Instagram and end up scrolling through my feed. Or when I feel like my ego needs a little boost, I browse through my own old uploads lol. Follow me @AliAbdaal.
🐦 @Twitter - 2nd horseman of procrastination. I do my best to use Twitter less often but luckily it sometimes leads to interesting conversations and ideas for YouTube videos.
😴 @AutoSleepApp - I use this one passively while I sleep. It takes all the data from my @ouraring and Apple Watch and tells me how well I’m sleeping. Haven’t found it particularly useful tbh but the data is there so I might put it to work someday.
🎥 YouTube Studio - This is where I answer most of the YouTube comments. Fun fact - this usually happens when I’m on the loo.
📰 @instapaper - I use it to collect all the articles that I find on the web but don’t want to read them at the moment. The cool thing about Instapaper is that I can highlight bits of text and using @readwiseio export them to @NotionHQ and @RoamResearch.
🗓 Fantastical - my go-to calendar app from @flexibits. It’s rather on the expensive side ($5/month) but I’ve been using it for the last 5 years and have to say it’s pretty solid.
🤳 @tiktok_us - occasionally, when I turn on my inner creator mode, I’ll record a cheeky TikTok with some life-advicey stuff or Harry Potter impressions. If you want to see me doing Snape, follow me @draliabdaal.
🏋️ @MyFitnessPal - in the hope of getting 6-pack abs (not right now, see more here: aliabdaal.com/my-goals-april…), I’ll track my macros and calories. Given that I’m currently on 79kg compared to 73kg this time last year, it’s not going great 😅.
💬 @SlackHQ - this is where my team and I communicate and talk about the YouTube channel, podcast, and all sorts of business stuff.
📝 @draftsapp - my go-to app whenever I want to quickly jot down an idea, task, or a short note in general. For example, when I have a random idea for a video, I’ll write a quick script in Drafts and later move it to @RoamResearch.
📖 @shortformhq - really good summaries of popular non-fiction books. I treat it as an additional resource to regular reading and I’ll check the summary if I’m not convinced to read a whole book. Cheeky affiliate link if you want to try it out 👉 go.aliabdaal.com/shortform
💞 @hinge - if I’m feeling particularly frisky, I’ll hang out a little bit on Hinge and check my matches. After all, the #wifequest won’t complete itself.
📚 @AmazonKindle - their iPhone app works great and I use it when I can’t be bothered to get up and grab my actual Kindle. Recently read: @AndreAgassi’s Open which was absolutely fantastic. Currently reading: How To Find Meaningful Work by @romankrznaric and @TheSchoolOfLife.
🎙️ @AirrAudio - my default podcast-listening app. A cool thing about Air is that you can hit an air quote button while you’re listening to any podcast and it’ll save the last 30 seconds of the show including the transcript if it’s available. And it nicely connects with @readwise.
🎨 @Lightroom - I might occasionally take a selfie, go into Lightroom and do some quick editing to make it ready for the gram.
🎸 @ultimateguitar - search for any song in the world, find chords for it and start playing immediately. If you want to see how I flex my piano + singing skills check out my Instagram profile @AliAbdaal.
🚙 @Tesla - Lets me preheat the car and get into a cosy interior even when it’s freezing cold outside #flex. Thanks, @elonmusk.
🌐 @RoamResearch - I use it for all of my note-taking. Mostly on my Mac but since Roam has a nice ‘quick capture’ feature on iPhone, I’ll sometimes use it to jot down my ideas and thoughts.
🗂️ @NotionHQ - everything business happens on Notion. I use it to organise everything apart from note-taking. I and my team use Notion to organise the YouTube channel, research new ideas, and schedule upcoming articles. See how I use it:
✍️ @dayoneapp - my private journaling app. I’ve been using it since 2014 and just recently made it a goal to do more journaling. If you’re curious about my progress (on this and my other goals) check out my April Goals Report: aliabdaal.com/my-goals-april…
🎧 @Spotify - I’ll usually use it to play some instrumental playlist while I’m working on my own or with PTYA class while we’re all filming our videos or brainstorming ideas for them. If you’re curious about PTYA, you can read more about it over here academy.aliabdaal.com
📧 @Superhuman - a fancy email app that gives you the privilege to check your Gmail for $30/month. In all seriousness, I’ve been using it since 2019 and I have to say it’s a really solid app. Hence, I see no point to switch back to Gmail or some other email app.
🎮 @discord - I’ve dabbled with having a fan discord server at one point but it became way too much to manage (hit me up if you want to become a moderator) so now I’m using it mostly to play @CallofDuty with my boys.
🧠 @brilliantorg - a fantastic app with courses on Maths, science, programming and all sorts of interesting stuff. I’ve recently completed their courses on blockchain and python and had a blast doing both.

Here are 5 quotes from stoicism that changed my life + a few lessons👇
😁 1. "Happiness and freedom begin with a clear understanding of one principle: some things are within our control and some things are not"

Lesson - I don't set numerical goals in life as I can't control the result. Instead I focus on what is in my control: the process.
⚖️ 2. "It is not events that disturb people, it is their judgements concerning them"

Lesson - we often think negative emotions are caused by external events. But it's actually the story we tell ourselves about the event that makes us feel bad.

Starting a YouTube channel is the single best thing I've ever done in my life.

Here are my top 10 tips on how to get started on YouTube 👇
🙉 1. Don't worry about what other people will say - the number one fear people have is always the same: "I'm worried about what my friends and family will think." The truth is, everyone's too worried about their own lives to care what you’re doing.
📷2. Gear doesn't matter at the start - when I started my channel I filmed everything on my iPhone and only bought fancy gear when I decided to take YouTube more seriously. It's like when you're learning to write: it doesn't matter what pen you use as long as you write something.

Last year, I read over 50 books. Here are my Top 15 recommendations from that list 👇
🎥 A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by @donaldmiller - really, really good book that made me cry (a lot) and also made me reconsider how I’m living my life. It’s about changing one’s story and embracing risk, change, and challenge.
💌 How to Think More About Sex by @alaindebotton - very insightful book that, I honestly believe, should be read by everyone. On the surface it’s a book about sex but, in reality, it’s about things like human connection, intimacy, and authenticity.

Creating my personal website was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It ultimately led to my YouTube channel and making 7-figures online.

So, if you want to set up a personal website here’s a step-by-step guide (with little or no coding). 👇
There are 6 main reasons why I think everyone should create their own personal website:

💡 It helps you develop your own ideas. If you want to become a better writer, thinker, or communicator, creating your own personal website is likely the best way to achieve that.
👔 It can help you with your professional life. A personal website is a 21st-century version of a CV. Your potential employers will google your name and you can ‘control’ that search result by having your own website.

One of my superpowers is having a ridiculously ⚡ fast typing speed (157 WPM). I believe everyone can get at least 2x more productive just by improving how fast they type.

Here are the 8 tips that I used to double my typing speed over the past 10 years 👇
✂️ Learn Keyboard Shortcuts - Absolute game-changer for fixing mistakes. If you have to hit backspace twice, there’s a problem. Instead, use either (1) Option/CTRL + Backspace to delete an entire word or (2) CMD + Backspace to delete an entire line.
⚡ Practice On @10FastFingers_ - 1 minute-long typing tests where all you have to do is type as many words in a minute as you can. Even semi-regular practice will help you ramp up your typing speed.

The 9 different "passive income" ideas I use to make $27k per week (the info I wish I had when I started my financial independence journey 8 years ago) 👇
❌ Get rich quick schemes don't work - the only way to make passive money is to provide value in a way that's not directly tied to your time.
💰 Investing in stocks & shares - interest from a savings account doesn't do much for us. My (non-financial) advice is to sign up to a stockbroker platform (e.g Vanguard) and invest in an index fund like the S&P 500. Earnings obv depend on stock performance and amount invested.
