After speaking with the Father, he warned me that I should go only to "canonical churches", which I had no clue what that meant.
He told me NOT to go Old Calendar Churches, as they are "heretics".

Ask them whether they are with the Mother Church, the Ecumenical Patriarchate. If they are not, then they are heretics.
okay, I said, and moved on.

The idea is that the only way to be deemed as Christian Orthodox is to be IN COMMUNION with the Ecumenical Patriarchate, The Mother Church.
If you are not in communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate, then you are ..... a heretic.
That simple.

I remember about the debates in 2018 about the recognition of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Church.
All true experts of the Christian Orthodoxy said without a doubt that anything may happen except for the Russian Church severing communion with The Mother Church.

Well, Moscow simply didn't care. They severed the communion with The Mother Church instantly, no regrets of being called Heretics.

And not only that, but Moscow went on a campaign still under way, that The Ecumenical Patriarchate is the Heretic one, confusing even more the whole matter.
Astutely, the Ecumenical Patriarchate did NOT replicate that, still self declares in communion with Moscow.
