(Thread) My new @MintPressNews investigation into how Israeli weapons, technology mercenaries and trainers are fueling the repression of nationwide protests in 🇨🇴 Colombia:
Israeli companies supply all branches of the 🇨🇴 military and police with their main rifles, while Israeli armored cars and drones are countering the protests. IDF and 🇮🇱 mercenaries also train Colombia's military and paramilitaries using tactics they devised oppressing Gazans.
The Colombian military are proud of their connections to their Israeli brothers
Israeli mercenaries are well known to be operating inside Colombia and across the Andes, carrying out assassinations, as one expert told me.
Israeli companies also offer the Colombian government facial recognition software and services.
Colombia and Israel have close economic and political ties too, inking a free trade deal in 2013.
Israeli weapons go one way, are used to clear millions of peasants off the land so mining corps can take over. Newly dug Colombian coal goes back to Israel.
Israeli mercenaries are so normalized in Colombia that, while president of the country, Juan Manuel Santos appeared in an advertisement for one firm.
Colombia and Israel both play a similar role for the US as regional lieutenants, ensuring that countries around them don't get "out of line".
They also have an ongoing "peace process" which never seems to involve any peace. And both demonize their opponents as "terrorists."
Across Latin America, the far-right identifies with Israel while left-wing liberation movements see themselves as part of the same struggle with Palestine.

This tweet's blowing up so I'm promoting my latest article. I spoke with Noam Chomsky, Chris Hedges and others to figure out why the public conversation on Israel/Palestine has changed all of a sudden.
Why has the debate on Israel/Palestine 🇮🇱🇵🇸 changed so rapidly? I spoke with Noam Chomsky, Chris Hedges, and a number of other experts to find out why.
Just a few years ago, it would have been compeltely unthinkable that a member of Congress would start a speech by saying “I rise today in solidarity with the Palestinian people.”
Something is shifting. And quickly.
Meanwhile, Andrew Yang, who repeated the "we stand with Israel" line have witnessed overnight crashes in their polling. That one single decision might have cost him the job as mayor of NYC.
On hey, look at that. Only a few hours after the ceasefire, Israeli forces are storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque AGAIN! Reports are they're firing tear gas and rubber bullets.
Worshippers flee the carnage at Al-Aqsa this afternoon. Video via @JatIkhwan
Video of armed Israeli forces storming the third holiest site in Islam, just hours after the ceasefire was agreed upon.
(Thread) A new poll shows the world thinks the US is the greatest threat to democracy.
But this Western NGO is aiming to "defend democracy" against China by expanding NATO into the Pacific and by taking greater control over the net at home.
Even in key ally states like the UK, Israel and Canada, the public considers the US a much greater threat to democracy than Russia or China.
But the Alliance of Democracies, a US-funded NGO wants to save democracy by uniting like-minded nations.
The AoD's new conference featured such noted democrats as Venezuela's Juan Guaidó, who called for more sanctions and economic warfare against his country.
Meanwhile, war criminals like NATO boss Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Gen. HR McMaster worried that China was the real threat.
