#CJs2Cents: There is only ONE instance I feel the argument, "if you don't like it, then don't watch/read it", can be applied intelligently. That situation would be if the individual being told this doesn't like the content they're given and aren't invested in said content either.
In the other cases when people say, "don't like, don't watch/read", they're simply looking at things from the perspective of subjective enjoyment & not overall investment, leading to them coming off as someone who only consumes entertainment they completely enjoy. Very limiting.
However, with the exception I'm using, you're looking at both their subjective enjoyment and overall investment. We consume entertainment because we either enjoy the product or we are mentally/emotionally connected to it. But if neither exists with a product, it's just a waste.

V8 was essentially RWBY's "Day of Black Sun". An intense time in the series before the finale, where the stakes were at their highest yet, the chips were all on the table and the hype was at its peak. This was the volume RWBY needed to kill it...and it failed, miserably. #RWBY
This was the volume our big bad was directly getting involved, all of our other villains had assembled, the ones who opposed them were divided, there was no chance at anyone coming to help them and the fate of 2 cities, 2 maidens & 2 relics were on the line...and it just bombed.
It's not even a case of "oh you just don't like it", no, this volume was quite possibly the worst in all of RWBY! The protagonists were complete idiots, our big bad did NOTHING, James' character got the Adam treatment, Penny was a complete waste & kids never learned or grew...
Okay, real talk. To those dumb enough or egotistical enough to use this tweet to divert criticism &/or complaints towards Miles & Kerry, just know you guys are disgusting imbeciles. You are literally using a dead man's-you claim to love-words as a deterrent for criticism.
Do you people not realize that criticism is based around analyzing and breaking down that which is brought to the table? Personal connection or disillusioned attachment don't hold any sway on true criticism. Friends or not, Miles & Kerry are bad at the job they were chosen for.
And you want to know something else, Monty himself isn't exempt from receiving criticism either, so don't pull that "Monty pedestal" bullshit. He may have been a great animator who could deliver high octane fights, but in terms of writing, he was severely lacking & it showed.
I really despise seeing RWBY fanatics using Monty as a tool to deflect criticism. Saying critics, "insult him" or some shit. Yeah no, criticism isn't directly insultive.
Also, insulting Monty? Tell that to those that turned his last baby into a complete joke & shit-show.
And yes, I'm well aware that Miles & Kerry are just as much RWBY's creators as Monty, but those 2 can still go off & create more...Monty sadly cannot & therefore RWBY is the last remnant of his legacy. It has such incredible potential...but it's in the hands of utter incompetence
And I know many of you will say this is just me being an asshole or targeting Miles & Kerry when other factors & people were involved. Let me say this...
If these 2 are the ones we praise when things go well, why shouldn't they be the ones we admonish when things go to hell?
#CJs2Cents: Subjectively, I love Demon Slayer and find it great & very enjoyable, especially the anime itself; which I feel is where the series shines the brightest. However, if I'm looking at the story & characters from an objective perspective...they're both just "okay".
There's little to no worldbuilding, and the demons themselves don't really have much effect on the setting around them outside of those who know they exist. I'm not asking for everyone in the world to know of this secret war, but you could at least have the government be aware.
Hell, we barely understand how these supernatural monsters came to exist or have their insane powers and appetite for humans from the source that turned Muzan all those years ago. We just pretty much just gloss over that whole thing when you think about it.
Instead of Salem showing up, Atlas has 3 days before her arrival & all our heroes are divided. And so, V8 will be a battle & race between former allies as they all try desperately to prepare for the nightmare to come.
In this volume 8, James isn't a genocidal tyrannical lunatic either. Rather, he's still the same empathetic James we've known him as all this time, but you see him no longer holding back on making really tough-but logical-calls, yet we still see how these trouble him.
Add in some unexpected faces joining James' ranks like Qrow, Pietro and even Ren, along with the two sides fighting each other, grimm activity steadily increasing more and more as Salem draws nearer & Cinder, Arthur, Tyrian and Neo still being thorns in everyone's sides.
