How on earth has it come to this? Police forces admitting they would record a male rapist as 'female' if that is how they self identify /1

Here's another police force doing the same. Did it prick anyone's conscience when they typed these words in the FOI? Did anyone say 'hang on should we really be recording a male rapist as female?' /2

Whose dignity matters most? The male rapist or the victim? How does the victim feel when she's told she's been raped by a woman? /3

"Durham records a persons gender as they identify themselves REGARDLESS OF THEIR NATAL SEX" Yes, you read that right - even male rapists /4

These aren't one-offs. We asked every police force in the UK. Sixteen responded. All saying they would record male crime as female if that's what the perp wanted. Read more here. /5

North Wales Police = Stonewall Champion /7

Durham Police = Stonewall Champion /8

Suffolk, Dyfed-Powys, West Midlands, Herts, Dorset Police .... all record male rapists as female if they want it.... all stonewall champions. /9

Thank you Derbyshire Police. The only police force in the UK that confirmed it would record a male rapist as male even if they said they identified as female. Please don't let common sense crumble when Stonewall finds out! /10

When it comes to male crimes small misclassification errors make a huge difference. Today at least a third of the female sex offenders in prison WERE BORN MALE! /11
