Hi @cabinetofficeuk

Now that @trussliz has called for all government departments to withdraw from @Stonewalluk’s 'Diversity Champions' scheme and after @ehrc announced it had already left, will you take this opportunity to review your equality...

... monitoring and all your equality policies, etc to ensure they accurately describe the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics, particularly after what employment and discrimination Barrister Akua Reindorf said in her report?

I have highlighted many Government ministerial & non-ministerial departments on my website, mostly for using the term 'gender' instead of the protected characteristic of sex in their recruitment monitoring (October 2020):

It's time they all accurately described the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010 so that everyone is aware of their rights and your responsibilities and duties.

Will you ensure this is reviewed with some urgency?

Hi @HMICFRS @GovernmentLegal @EHRC @EHRCChair @KishwerFalkner @trussliz @GEOgovuk

You say you use the 'Diversity monitoring' information in your job application "to monitor the inclusivity of our selection processes."

1/17 Image
As it is a part of your job application process, I assume its purpose is to help you to ensure that you are recruiting without unlawfully discriminating under the Equality Act 2010.

Hi @Scottish_Squash @EHRC @EHRCChair @KishwerFalkner @trussliz @GEOgovuk

In your 'Member Equality Survey', you say "This work is being carried out as part of our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010"

forms.office.com/Pages/Response…

1/11 Image
In the list of what appears to be the protected characteristics under the Act you (rightly) list sex but you also list 'gender identity'.

2/11
'Gender identity' is not a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010 and is not defined in the Act.

Hi @WestYorkshireCA @MayorOfWY @EHRC @EHRCChair @KishwerFalkner @trussliz @GEOgovuk

The 'Equality and Diversity' section in your job application states that you require the information 'to monitor equality and diversity opportunities'...

cc @alison_4life @GranicusUK

...and that you are 'committed to providing Equal Opportunities in employment'.

2/21
As it is a part of your job application process, I assume its purpose is to help you to ensure that you are recruiting without unlawfully discriminating under the Equality Act 2010.

Hi @fawcettsociety @prospect_us @EHRC @EHRCChair @KishwerFalkner @trussliz @GEOgovuk

The 'Diversity & inclusion'/'equal opportunities' section of your job application for Chief Executive talks about helping 'monitor equal opportunities data', states that...

cc @YWTrust

1/18
...'Prospectus is committed to ensuring equal opportunity' and its only purpose is 'to ensure that we have a full picture of the diversity of our candidates.'

2/18
So, the purpose of this form is not entirely clear but as it is a part of your job application process, I assume its purpose is to help you to ensure that you are recruiting without unlawfully discriminating under the Equality Act 2010.

Hi @RamblersGB @EHRC @EHRCChair @KishwerFalkner @trussliz @GEOgovuk

Your recruitment 'Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form' says you are an "equal opportunities employer" and that you "work to ensure equality".

As it is a part of your job application process, I assume its purpose is to help you to ensure that you are recruiting without unlawfully discriminating under the Equality Act 2010.

I also note the @EHRC guidance on this:
