A little thread: If you were around a few years ago you will remember how the establishment came for Jeremy Corbyn.

You’ll remember who, what, where, and why.

The same is happening again to Unite General Secretary candidate, Howard @BeckettUnite

And here’s why... 1/9
Beckett is an old school socialist. He was and still is a friend and supporter of @jeremycorbyn - they share many political ideologies, as do most of you reading this now.

Beckett has approached this contest as unashamedly socialist - this makes him an establishment target. 2/9
Most people know Unite are one of the Labour Party’s chief donors.

Labour massively benefited from a good relationship between Jeremy and outgoing secretary @LenMcCluskey - I even got a free ice cream out of it.

If Beckett wins, Starmer is in turmoil, and he knows it. 3/9
I’m not going to amplify the smears and dishonesty right here.

The same old right-wing relics are standing over their cauldron, they can see Unite’s mega millions disappearing with a Howard Beckett win, and they want to derail him like they did to Jeremy. 4/9
Cut a long story short, when I had the S*n and Mail harassing me I took advantage of my Unite Community membership, and Howard and his team got them off my case and away from my family.

No messing, he was superb, and I encourage you all to Union up with @unitetheunion 5/9
I also urge you to take a look at Howard’s superb campaign, following @Beckett4Unite and @BeckettUnite himself.

You will see why this matters, not just to Unite, but to the aspirations of anyone wanting to carry forward Jeremy’s message of unity, solidarity, and socialism. 6/9
Ever thought about a Union TV channel? Something not just to counter smears and lies, but to promote union values, community, togetherness, and a genuine voice for working class people?

Howard Beckett has committed to this very project.

He deserves our support. 7/9
While Starmer has spent month after month, morally propping up this plague of a government, Howard Beckett was leading the people’s opposition.

And that’s why they’re coming for him now.

Beckett is a threat to Starmer, a huge threat. 8/9
Starmer’s own aides told the BBC that a Beckett victory was a ‘nightmare scenario’ for the Labour leader.

Please support Howard Beckett for Unite General Secretary, and make the flame of socialism burn bright once more. 9/9

So, a right-wing think-tank claims the NHS has been “nothing special” during this unprecedented global pandemic.

The Institute of Economic Affairs, also claim it’s a “myth” to say the NHS performed well and we have “no reason to be grateful” for its existence.

Nonsense. 1/8
This think-tank counts Tory Peers and Tory donors on its board.

These selfish, utterly fucking clueless individuals have their own profit-driven agenda.

They deny the pandemic has exposed the consequences of ideological austerity.

But it clearly has. 2/8
They are as qualified to offer their offensive and wholly inaccurate thoughts on *our* NHS as I am to offer my thoughts on the theory of evolution.

And as for “nothing special”, where do you even begin to start with this ludicrous hogwash? 3/8

Hospitals in the Capital are overwhelmed.

This isn’t an exaggeration.

Here’s why:

Successive Conservative governments have intentionally underfunded the NHS.

It’s all on record. 1/13
Successive Conservative governments have cut the number of hospital beds, despite a growing and ageing population.

This results in the number of patients exceeding the number of available beds.

You don’t need to have a PhD to work this out. 2/13
Successive Conservative governments failed to recruit anywhere near the number of nurses & doctors needed

They scrapped the nurses bursaries, yes, they charge you if you want to give 40+ years nursing others.

Do I need to explain the consequences of understaffing? 3/13

However you look at it, today has been an utter shambles from the Labour leadership.

Regardless of your thoughts about Jeremy Corbyn, you know he would’ve stood by teachers, parents, pupils and unions immediately m, and without waiting for a leaked Downing St briefing. 1/13
Starmer has been caught out today. His video interview with a very persistent Sam Coates was truly lamentable.

This wasn’t a car crash, it was a 20 vehicle pile-up I’m afraid.

I have retweeted a couple of the many disillusioned Starmer voters - they’ve seen the light. 2/13
And how long before the public realise?

Let’s be honest. Labour’s polling is an anti-Johnson vote, it’s not a pro-Starmer vote. It’s not an endorsement of Starmer because he hasn’t offered anything to endorse. Nothing. He is policy free. 3/13

Our inability to introduce remote learning during a global pandemic is a social problem.

A decade of austerity has left families without the means to own adequate devices, and some can’t even afford broadband.

Scoff all you like, but it is reality I’m afraid. 1/10
It wasn’t long ago @GavinWilliamson was promising help for poorer families, so their children could access the necessary equipment to learn from home and no child is left behind.

How did that go? Do I even need to ask?

Another huge failure from the fireplace flogger. 2/10
“Whatever it takes”, they said.

I’ll stick my neck out here and call that bullshit. Utter hogwash.

“Whatever it takes to ensure our friends get HUUUUGE PPE contracts” - that would be accurate. 3/10

Starmer is panicking.

I have thought about the latest attempt to publicly humiliate Me Corbyn, and some absolutely vital questions need answering by Nick Brown and Keir Starmer.

Why now? Why not last week?

Why have they come up with this ludicrous response now? 1/7
Why is this being done in public and not via the normal channels? This is completely extraordinary.

If it’s about “transparency”, release the WhatsApps messages between a key Starmer aide and Corbyn’s representatives prior to last weeks NEC panel. Nothing to hide? 2/7
Why has Starmer suddenly decided to stand aside and let the Chief Whip manage it all when he was opposed to the whip being withheld?

What are you hiding, Sir Keir? I think I know. 3/7

Not many people know... But without @TheMendozaWoman and @TheCanaryUK there probably wouldn’t be a Rachael Swindon.

And without @MrTopple there definitely wouldn’t be.

Genuinely.

So when you’ve finished blaming them for me, please be sure you’re following them. 1/4
I remember one time, the filthy S*n arranged for a reporter to doorstep me. It was upsetting, and I had to disinfect the door. Twice, just to be sure.

But what did Kerry-Anne do? She went and doorstepped them. See how they liked it. ❤️ 2/4
And Mr Topple, he gave me so much advice, and belief. He told me to put myself out there a bit more, engage and debate. When awful people with high profiles went after me, he stood up for me.

Seriously, he was an absolute rock. A true friend. 3/4
